The top three most-watched new series on CBS this year are, “Fire Country,” “East New York,” and “So Help Me Todd,” which drew huge audiences and became the three most-watched scripted dramas not only on CBS but also across the major broadcast networks. All three series debuted on the network less than a month ago. Moreover, “CBS is off to a tremendous start this season,” said Kelly Kahl, President, of CBS Entertainment, in a statement Wednesday.
Further adding, “We are thrilled to have the three most-watched new series, each with their own unique settings, characters, and storylines. These dramas are elevating our already successful lineup, resonating with diverse audiences both on-air and on streaming, and continuing to grow each week. We thank the talented casts, executive producers, and their incredible writing and production teams for bringing these shows to life. Additional kudos to our CBS programming teams for shepherding these series to success. We are delighted to give them well deserved full season orders.”
It is noted by viewers that the network has introduced a number of new TV shows this year, and it doesn’t appear that this trend will slow down anytime soon – exclusive shows and movies are planned to debut in the coming months, which has drawn the interest of prior viewers and engaged new audience into watching these new shows of different genres more than ever!

The official logline states, “Seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence, young convict Bode Donovan joins a firefighting program that returns him to his small Northern California hometown, where he and other inmates work alongside elite firefighters to extinguish massive blazes across the region. Inspired by Max Thieriot’s experiences growing up in northern California fire country.”
The series stars the following main cast members: Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan, Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez, Gabriella’s father and captain of Cal Fire, where Bode is sent, Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford, Riley’s ex-boyfriend, currently dating Gabriela, Stephanie Arcila as Gabriella Perez, Manny’s daughter, Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards, fire-fighter with Jake under Vince’s command, Diane Farr as Sharon Leone, Vince’s wife and Riley’s mother; Bode Donovan’s mother, and Cal Fire Division Chief, and Billy Burke as Vince Leone, Riley’s father, Bode Donovan’s father, and Cal Fire Battalion Chief.
Fire Country is the No. 1 new series so far this season, averaging 8.26 million viewers to date. The series premiere on October 7 delivered CBS’ best seven-day audience for a series in the time period since May 8, 2020. The seven-day streaming on Paramount+, CBS.com, and the CBS app, meanwhile, is up 245% from Magnum P.I. last year based on average minute audience.
East New York: What is the series about?
The official logline of the series states, “Regina Haywood is the newly promoted deputy inspector of East New York, a working-class neighborhood at the edge of Brooklyn. She leads a diverse group of officers and detectives, some of whom are reluctant to deploy her creative methods of serving and protecting in the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification.”
The series stars the following main cast members: Amanda Warren as Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood, Kevin Rankin as Detective First Grade Tommy Killian, Richard Kind as Captain Stan Yenko, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Detective Second Grade Crystal Morales, Olivia Luccardi as Officer Brandy Quinlan, Lavel Schley as Officer Andre Bentley, Ruben Santiago-Hudson as Officer Marvin Sandeford, and Jimmy Smits as Assistant Chief John Suarez.
East New York is the No. 2 new series on any network and Sunday’s No. 1 new program with 7.37 million viewers. It’s also the No. 1 new show among African-American viewers and the No. 2 entertainment series among African-American viewers behind CBS’ The Equalizer. Seven-day streaming of the series on Paramount+, CBS.com, and the CBS app is up 33% from the time period last season.
So Help Me Todd: What is the series about?
The official logline of the series states, “So Help Me Todd follows Todd, a talented but directionless private investigator, who is also the black sheep of his family. At the insistence of his overbearing mother, Margaret, Todd begrudgingly agrees to work at her law firm as the in-house investigator. Margaret has a tendency to strictly adhere to the law, which is at complete odds with Todd’s tendency to bend the law to navigate sticky situations.”
The series stars the following main cast members: Marcia Gay Harden as Margaret, a defense attorney, who completed her Juris Doctor degree after the death of her first husband – her children’s father, Skylar Astin as Todd, Margaret’s youngest child, a former private detective hired by Margaret’s firm, Madeline Wise as Allison, Todd’s married sister, an ER doctor, Tristen J. Winger as Lyle, a fastidious in-house investigator at Margaret’s firm, Inga Schlingmann as Susan, Todd’s engaged ex-girlfriend, a lawyer at Margaret’s firm, and Rosa Evangelina Arredondo as Francey, Margaret’s executive assistant.
So Help Me Todd is the No. 3 new series on any network and is Thursday’s No. 1 new series with a time-period-winning 6.48 million viewers. The series is among the most watched TV series on Paramount+ based on viewership.
