Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting on September 10 left many horrified and in utter shock. The conservative activist was attending a public event at Utah Valley University when he was shot in the neck.
Soon after Kirk’s death, a manhunt was launched to nab his killer.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had already released the photo of a ‘person of interest’ in connection with the murder of Kirk.
A young man wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses was under the radar after being spotted in the stairwell of a building. Now, the suspect of the fatal shooting has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, as confirmed by the officials. He was arrested in Washington County, south of Salt Lake City, on September 11 at 10 pm MT, after 33 hours of a manhunt and is currently in the Utah jail.
After receiving hundreds of leads, launching aircraft, and releasing the suspect’s photos, the authorities were able to nab Robinson and bring him into custody. It was apparently the suspect’s father who recognized that his son was the murderer after looking at the photos circulated by the FBI. Later, the 22-year-old was asked by his father to turn himself in after apparently confessing to killing Charlie Kirk.

It was Robinson’s father himself who reached out to a family friend regarding the entire matter. The latter contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s office with the information, leading to Tyler Robinson’s arrest. Initially, the U.S. marshals took him into custody before handing him over to the FBI officials.
This was confirmed by Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who also thanked Robinson’s family for helping them with the case. He said, “I want to thank the family members of Tyler Robinson, who did the right thing in this case.”
Cox even confirmed that the bullet casings belonged to Robinson. Apparently, there were messages on the Discord app sent by the 22-year-old about the need to “retrieve a rifle from a drop point,” as confirmed by People.
The news of his arrest was also confirmed by President Donald Trump, who was a close friend of the Kirk. He spoke about the same in detail on Fox & Friends on September 12. When asked about the suspect, Trump reportedly said, “I think with a high degree of certainty we have him in custody.” He even added that someone close to the suspect had turned him in to the cops.
Earlier, Kirk’s sudden death had sent a shockwave across the U.S, with many celebrities and even political figures taking to social media and voicing their opinions.
Donald Trump confirmed the news of the late conservative activist’s demise and sent condolences on Truth Social. Later, several others, like Chris Pratt, Jimmy Kimmel, Kamala Harris, and more, also sent condolences to Kirk’s family.
