Is Charmed Season 5 canceled by The CW? Continue reading to learn more.
Charmed is an American fantasy drama television series developed by Jennie Snyder Urman, Jessica O’Toole, and Amy Rardin. It’s a remake of Constance M. Burge’s WB sitcom of the same name, which aired on the network from 1998 to 2006. Furthermore, as the season comes to an end, viewers of the series have questions about the potential renewal of the series because, after all, the franchise has had a long run for the CW network.
So, it is fair to ask about the status of the new season, as many speculated whether it would be renewed or canceled. Unfortunately, we have some bad news for you. If you were looking forward to the next chapter of Charmed, the chance to binge-watch Charmed Season 5 was brief. As the show has been canceled by the CW Network. The series is listed among the other TV series which are abruptly canceled by the network. Here is everything we know about the Charmed Season 5’s cancellation.
Will there be a Season 5 of Charmed?
Charmed Season 5 was canceled by the CW network when it was announced that the fourth season would be its final season in May 2022. Moreover, after the premiere of the final episode of the fourth season aired on the network, there is no update regarding the status of any potential renewal of the series for more seasons. Hence, the series remains canceled for the time being, as verified by the network.
So, unfortunately, even if it had the potential to build a fanbase eager to see more seasons of these shows in order to see the characters develop and make the episodes better with each passing week, which intrigued viewers to at least tune into watching the episodes to see how the show creator will deal with these characters. It’s a pity that viewers who hoped the series would improve will no longer be able to see another chapter.
Why did CW cancel Charmed Season 5?
According to Deadline, The CW’s Charmed will not be renewed for another season. Throughout its run, the show underwent various alterations. Before Season 4, Lieber, Falco, and Renna took over as showrunners. They stepped in for Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro, who helmed the series since the beginning of Season 2, following Carter Covington’s exit after Season 1.
Furthermore, Charmed’s fourth season averaged a 0.06 rating among adults 18-49 and 357,000 viewers in live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). In comparison to season three, that’s a 29 percent drop in the demo and a 6% drop in viewership. The season presently has a 0.10 demo and 650,000 viewers in the live+7 day ratings, which includes a week of delayed viewing.
Many networks opted to discontinue renewing a substantial number of sitcoms in the early months of 2022. Similarly, many original CW shows were canceled for a variety of reasons, and the network is no exception in following the trend and reducing investing resources in TV series that might not have been favorable in terms of reception they initially intended to be.
Unfortunately, many fan-favorite tv series have also been canceled, despite the fact that the show’s narrative and character arcs had the potential to be improved, like Dynasty, Naomi, and Rosewell: New Mexico.
Take a look at some fan’s reactions to the cancelation

What is the premise of Charmed?
The first three seasons follow Macy, Mel, and Maggie, three sisters who explore they are the Charmed Ones, the most powerful trio of good witches destined to protect both innocent lives and the world from demons and other dark forces after their mother’s death. Each sister possesses a unique magical ability, which is amplified when the three sisters join together as the “Power of Three” to overcome their foes. Harry Greenwood, a Whitelighter who protects and guides witches, assists the sisters.
The reboot is noted for being more diverse than the original series, as well as for including LGBT representation by making one of the sisters a lesbian. Urman noted that viewers of the original Charmed “had a chance to watch three white witches,” and she was enthusiastic about creating a new version of the show where people of color and the LGBT community could see themselves reflected onscreen and “be the hero of the story.”
What could have been the plot of Charmed Season 5?
Charmed Season 4 has aired all 13 episodes of the series, which concluded on June 10, 2022. The final episode of the series, The End is Never the End, was directed by Kevin Dowling, and the episode was written by Jeffery Lieber & Nicki Renna. According to the promo, the viewers can get glimpses of the episode where the short title simply states, SERIES FINALE.
The official synopsis of the episode states, “In the epic series finale, Mel (Melonie Diaz), Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) and Kaela (Lucy Barrett), along with Harry (Rupert Evans) and Jordan (Jordan Donica), have now discovered that the cabal of foes coalescing to bring down the Power of Three are actually working for an ancient evil that’s been lying dormant since the dawn of magic. This powerful dark force — known as the Lost One — will be the ultimate test of the strength of the newly discovered sisterhood; forcing them to rekindle their connection…or face the destruction of magic itself.” Take a look at the official promo below:
If the fifth season of the series was renewed, the viewers would have gotten a chance to see that the story would have been picked up from this very moment and expanded upon to explore the character dynamics and subplots, which could have been valuable for the viewers who tune into watching the series for a long run.
Hence it’s tough to predict what would have happened in Charmed Season 5 right now. Because there has been no major insight into the potential expanded plot, the show creators might have been able to explore the dynamics of the franchise. As a result, fans will not be able to envision how these characters would have evolved and how their story arcs would have been expanded further.
