Cher’s advice since the 70s has been nothing but thumb-rules for all independent and aspiring women of the world. Her infamous line, “I am a rich man,” is a household women empowerment echo.

People reported via Amelia Dimoldenberg’s YouTube interview series Chicken Shop Date, where the 77-year-old star appeared, which was released on Friday, that Cher has another piece of advice for women out there. When Dimoldenberg inquired what women must do at least once in their lifetime, here is what the fashion icon has to say.

The Grammy winner responded, “Go out with a younger man.”

As the episode proceeds and the discussions around this particular statement continue, Cher reveals, “Older men just do not like me.” People reports that the “Strong Enough” singer has dipped her toenails in her fair share of young men over the years, some of whom include Val Kilmer, Tom Cruise, and Rob Camilletti in the 1980s — and most recently leaned into her romantic wisdom by going out with her current boyfriend, Alexander “A.E.” Edwards.

The “Believe” singer then goes on to reveal that she ended up breaking her vow not to date any more younger men by falling head over heels with record producer Edwards,37. While on the subject, she revealed to the hold that she did not initially intend to fall for him but ended up getting a lovebug over texting.

She explains, “I left to go to Switzerland and he texted me, ‘Where are you going?’ I said “I’m going to Switzerland. I’m a little tired,’ and then he wrote me, ‘Well, get some rest, babyyy,’ with three Ys,” adding, “And I’m like, ‘He doesn’t know me well enough to put three Ys on baby.’ I was kind of pissed off. And then he just started texting me.”

The “Dancing Queen” contained her explanation, “I told my friends, don’t fall in love with a younger man, we’re too old. And don’t fall in love by text. There goes that theory.”

People reports that the two met at Paris Fashion Week last year, and the two began texting after a mutual friend shared their numbers. They kept their budding romance a secret for several months before going public in the fall of 2022. An October interview with People reveals Cher’s statement about her beau, where she stated, “Because he’s just so special,” when asked about why she is going against her own dating rules.

The “Little Man” singer also explained why she is not perplexed by the interference and interest of the fans in their relationship. She explains, according to People, “Alexander’s got diamond teeth, tattoos, white hair, and he’s way younger. He’s a beautiful man,” adding, “Also, I think it’s fun to be interested in somebody else’s love life!” She continues, saying,  “No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed.’ But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time.”
