In the wake of Chicago Med season 8, the minds of the fans were preoccupied with some frustrating conundrums, especially when things went topsy-turvy with the OR AI program being sabotaged by Will and Grace. In the midst of all this ruckus, there was some romance brewing between the characters. This on-screen romance featured April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) and Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) tying the knot and Dr Will Halstead ( Nick Gehlfuss) moving in with Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).
However, it seems that there was off-screen romance brewing in DeVitto’s life. The actress recently got engaged to her long-time boyfriend Jared LaPine. Announcing her engagement on Instagram, she shared some of the most heartwarming photos on Instagram, captioned with:
“Earlier this month at 5 pm on a weekday while walking the back trails at the farm, still in my PJs and goat boots, he got down on one knee, in what I hoped wasn’t poison ivy, and asked for forever. My answer was obvious.”

Not only that, but LaPine also shared his thoughts about embarking on a new journey through social media. Announcing the good news, he said:
“On September 1st, I got engaged to my best friend. Now I get to spend every single day as the luckiest man in the world. I love you more than anything and everything.”
The moment this couple made things official, a slew of congratulations inundated the comment section:
“Torrey!!! congratulations!! your smile tells it all here’s to finding your forever together.”
Her former co-star, Marie Tredway commented:
“Still screaming like my voice message. Love you so much, friend!.”
Her on-screen romantic partner Will Halstead, played by Nick Gehlfuss, jokingly commented:
“Congratulations. Guess it didn’t work out with Will Halstead just joking. .”
US Weekly reports that DeVitto and LaPine met each other through the former’s cousin. In June, they made their relationship official through posting on Instagram.
Per One Chicago Center, DeVitto was previously in relationships with One Chicago celebrity Jesse Lee Soffer, comedian Rick Glassman, Chicago Cubs manager David Ross, and actor Paul Wesley. In fact, DeVitto and Wesley starred together on one of the most popular shows, The Vampire Diaries, and were married from 2011 to 2013.
LaPine is not completely isolated from Hollywood. Per the reports, he directed, The One That Likes You a short film in 2019, which featured Lukas Gage. Moreover, he worked as a production assistant and assistant production coordinator for the Disney Channel series K.C. Undercover from 2016 to 2018.
