As a part of the “One Chicago” franchise, the police procedural action drama series, along with its sister shows Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, are planned to be a part of the 2024 mid-season primetime schedule. The franchise will return to its regular air time with new episodes dropping next year on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, on NBC and later available to stream on Peacock.
In addition to this, the respective time slots of the three shows are listed below:

The official One Chicago X (formerly known as Twitter) handle also confirmed the official release date of the show with a brand new short teaser with their followers, quoting, “New year, New seasons One Chicago Wednesdays are back January 17 on @nbc and streaming on @peacock.” Take a look at the post below:

Chicago P.D. Season 11 Plot: What to expect?
Unfortunately, not much about the plot has been revealed, as the network does not want any early spoilers to emerge before viewers get a chance to see the new season. But we are certain it will be true to its original premise, which follows:
“Chicago P.D.’s Intelligence Unit investigates the city’s most formidable offenses – drug trafficking, organized crime, high-profile murders, and other large-scale felonies. The squad – made up of Voight, Trudy Platt, Kim Burgess, Adam Ruzek, Kevin Atwater, Jay Halstead, and Hailey Upton – is committed to protecting the city and seeking truth, but in the midst of a changing criminal justice system, the team struggles to maintain peace in the community. Voight must learn to adapt to a shifting sociopolitical climate and embrace new tactics to crack down on crime in the city he loves.”
*Spoiler Alert*
NBC Insider highlighted hopes for Burgess and Ruzek to maintain their newly rekindled romance. “If Instagram comments are any indication, most of the fans are like, ‘Just leave them alone, leave them alone,'” Flueger told NBC Insider. “So I think we’ve got enough opportunities for drama on our show that maybe you’ll actually be able to see two people just kind of be happy together.”
He continued, “[Marina and I have] definitely both told the writers—and, you know, we can tell them anything we want, but it doesn’t mean they’re going to listen—that if they break us up again, like, please let’s not try this again because it’s too much. It’s too much.”
It’ll also be interesting to see how Upton continues to (not) deal with Halstead’s absence after he left Chicago for Bolivia following Jesse Lee Soffer’s exit from the show.
“This ultimately will change her in some way, which I’m interested to see how,” Spiridakos told Variety. “We’re still in the change. She finds out that he’s extended his stay and has that breakdown moment of having this hope and then all of a sudden, that’s gone. It’s the first time we see her break down since he’s left, since their goodbye. I think there’s gonna be some changes for her over the next little while.”
Chicago P.D. Season 11 Cast: Who will reprise their roles?
The main cast who are expected to return in the new season are Jason Beghe as Sergeant Hank Voight, Tracy Spiridakos as Detective Hailey Upton, Marina Squerciati as Officer Kim Burgess, Patrick John Flueger as Officer Adam Ruzek, LaRoyce Hawkins as Officer Kevin Atwater, Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Officer Dante Torres, and Amy Morton as Desk Sergeant Trudy Platt.
Sadly, Tracy Spiridakos has confirmed that after Season 11, she will say goodbye to her character. Spiridakos’ pending departure was her decision, following that of her on-screen husband, Jesse Lee Soffer, who left Chicago P.D. last season. In an exclusive interview with Variety, Soffer explained:
“I really wanted to grow and expand, and we’ve only got this one trip. If I signed up again, it would have been for another three years. I would have turned 40 on the show. I thought, ‘You know what? It’s time to take a risk.’ It was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life.”
In addition to Wolf, executive producers are Gwen Sigan, Chad Saxton, Rick Eid, Gavin Harris, Jason Beghe, Arthur Forney, Peter Jankowski, and Michael Brandt. There are reports also indicating that co-creator and co-showrunner Derek Haas will be exiting or stepping away from Wolf Entertainment. “Chicago P.D.” is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
