A fan asked the author to provide more insight on Mile’s recovery, asking in the comment section, “As a mom with such a large following, would you consider sharing more about Type 1? At least a bit to raise awareness? Sincerely, a fellow T1 mom.”
Teigen replied saying, “I definitely plan to! We are still learning over here ourselves! 🤍🤍🤍”
Miles was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes which Teigen shared on Instagram on July 31.
While attending the Paris Olympics in 2024, fans spotted Miles wearing a diabetes monitor, which is when his parents decided to reveal the news.
In the Instagram post, the mom-of-four wrote, “Miles had his arm up, and soooo many of you reached out to say the most beautiful and incredible words I have ever witnessed on this platform,” referring to the outpour of messages from concerned followers.

Teigen continued, “Miles was sick, in the hospital, with a terrible case of [the intestinal infection] shigella …But the doctors knew something else was off about his blood tests,” which is when the actual reason was revealed. The public figure added that she and her husband John Legend are reading the book Year One with Type One to help Miles with his condition.
Legend also expressed his sadness about his son being diagnosed with the disease with People Magazine in July. He noted that his wife “was upset a little bit when she first heard it,” but has “been so good at learning what she needs to do.”
The ‘Love Me Now’ hitmaker had a more practical, action-oriented stance, and said, “As soon as I learned that he had this I knew it was going to be life-changing for him and for us,” before adding, “This speaks to us feeling like a team … and knowing we can do this together. It just makes us stronger.”
