The latest part of the final season of The Crown dropped on Netflix on December 14, 2023. No matter how bittersweet the end was, everyone was surprised to hear Cindy Crawford’s name shouted out in a conversation between Prince Philip (Jonathan Pryce) and Prince William (Ed McVey) in season part 2 of the Netflix drama.

According to PEOPLE, the supermodel took to Instagram to share her emotions of giving her “little cameo” in the show. She shared the snippet of that conversation between the grandfather and grandson, along with a throwback photo with the late Princess of Wales as an Instagram story.

The 57-year-old supermodel captioned the story with:

“A little cameo on @thecrownnetflix 👀 I still vividly remember visiting Kensington Palace to meet Diana and a teenage William (who had just discovered the “Super Models”) ♥️.”

The scene that Crawford captured from the show belongs to episode 5, part 2. In the episode, Prince William arrived at his dorm room at Eton, only to run into his grandfather who had paid him a surprise visit.

Since the show is a fictional biopic, it took the liberty to imagine that William must have stuck a lot of game shots of Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Claudia Schiffer. McVey’s Prince Williams found his grandfather looking at these tacked-up photos of the supermodels on the wall.

Clearing this air of awkwardness with his grandson, Pryce’s Prince Phillips, reassures, “Nothing to be ashamed of! Do they have names? In my day it was Rita Hayworth, Betty Grable and Lana Turner.”

As a tribute to Princess Diana, Crawford reposted the photo of her and the late Princess of Wales on the 20th anniversary of her death in 2017. The photo was captioned with:

“Remembering this inspiring woman today. This photo was taken at Kensington Palace. Princess Diana had somehow got the number to my office and called herself to ask for me. My assistant was in shock! We finally connected and she asked if the next time I was in London I would come by for tea — I think Prince William was just starting to notice models and she thought it would be a cute surprise for him and Prince Harry. I was nervous and didn’t know what to wear, but remember as soon as she came into the room and we started talking, it was like talking to a girlfriend. She was a class act and showed us all what a modern-day princess should be. Rest In Peace #PrincessDiana#TBT.”
