Are you ready for unlimited karate chops and some kickass storylines?
Cobra Kai is returning for Season 6 and we cannot keep calm.
The Karate Kid fandom was relieved when a sequel to their favorite films materialized into Cobra Kai. The karate kids who butted heads in the original films are now fathers who are teaching their kids the art of karate. It is quite a walk down memory lane throughout Cobra Kai as predeceasing references to the parent show are made throughout the Seasons.
Cobra Kai Season 5 finale left us in the throes of a massive cliffhanger, and then for the longest time, we had no updates on a renewal. This left the ardent Cobra followers distraught over any clue of an update on some form of renewal. Soon enough, fans’ prayers were answered when Cobra Kai was renewed for a Season 6 on January 2023 with the saying that this was going to be the biggest baddest season!
Ever since then, fans have been pondering over when the release date for Season 6 will be announced and if the ongoing strikes will affect the dates. If you are wondering the same, you have come to the right place to get your doubts resolved. We have some unsettling news regarding the status of Cobra Kai Season 6, so keep reading.
Cobra Kai Season 6: Expected Release Date
It’s been a while since we got to see the last season of this martial arts comedy-drama television series and a sequel to the original The Karate Kid films by Robert Mark Kamen, and we are aware of how much the fans have been awaiting its official return. We have unfortunate news to share regarding the developments of updates when it comes to Cobra Kai Season 6.
The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have caused productions to go on hiatus because there are no writers to write the scripts and actors to perform the roles. We are currently entering the third month of the strike, and no talks of any form of negotiation have taken place. This bleak situation has put a damper on our favorite upcoming series and scripted shows. Cobra Kai Season 6, unfortunately, seems to be stuck in this portal. The only way out is for the production houses to meet the demand of the unions, or else the double strike will continue, and we will not get to see most of the shows for months at the end.
For series that have not even completed their scripts for their upcoming seasons, it seems like their release date will be pushed back further. Evidence shows that the writers of Cobra Kai have joined the strike, and the scripts have not been completed yet. Sadly, the writing sessions for the season were put on indefinite hold starting May 2, 2023, as a result of the Writers Guild of America strike. This is not consoling news for the fandom who were desperately awaiting Season 6 on Netflix by this year.
So it is safe to say that we will not be getting any updates for Cobra Kai Season 6 in August.
Moreover, we can make a calculated prediction on the release date, and we have predicted it to be between mid to late 2024. Until further confirmation, it is unfair to provide any false hope to the viewers. Looks like we have a very long wait for Season 6 to arrive.
On the bright side, this may be the perfect opportunity for you to go through Seasons 1-5 of Cobra Kai that are available to stream right now on Netflix, provided you have a suitable subscription plan for it.

Moreover, executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg confirm in an open letter to fans that they should “strap in for the BIGGEST SEASON OF COBRA KAI YET.” They hope that the news serves as a “celebration of all that’s come, as well as all that’s still left to be told.” The full letter from the executive producers is below, quoting, “A letter to you, the greatest fans in the world, from the showrunners of Cobra Kai.”
Lastly, as per Netflix Tudum, Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg also reminisced about the journey of Daniel LaRusso from when he first arrived in the Valley in 1984 to the present day, where they revered lessons of his sensei in a dojo of his own. This is the conclusion to the Cobra Kai journey that the executive producers wanted to offer him and Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) — and everyone else in the universe.
Take a look at the official post confirming these details as shared on the show’s Twitter handle, quoting, “A letter to you, the greatest fans in the world, from the showrunners of COBRA KAI.”
