The long-teased project by Nicolas Winding Refn, Copenhagen Cowboy will finally become a part of the Netflix library. A Danish Netflix Original series, Copenhagen Cowboy is described as a Noir thriller, produced by Danish film producer Lene Børglum. The duo aims “to produce highly artistic and edgy feature films for an international audience. “
Concerning the Copenhagen Cowboy project, here’s what Director Refn had to say:
“With Copenhagen Cowboy, I am returning to my past to shape my future by creating a series, an expansion of my constantly evolving alter-egos, now in the form of my young heroine, Miu. Collaborating with Netflix and bringing this show to life has been an absolutely wonderful experience on all levels. I not only perceive them as my partners with many future adventures to come but also as my friends. A new term has been born: Netflix Winding Refn.”
When will Copenhagen Cowboy release on Netflix?
In November 2022, Netflix announced that the Danish show will be streaming on its official service from January 5, 2023.
Originally, the show was supposed to release in December 2022, however, due to unknown circumstances it was pushed to January 2023.

What’s on Netflix also confirms that the show will stream six episodes with an approximate runtime of 60 minutes.

How has the production history of Copenhagen Cowboy been so far?
The Danish project was teased ever since September 2021 when an Instagram page posted two photos containing pigs, wherein one of them was posted before the PETA complaint.
Soon after, ProductionWeekly confirmed that the project had begun filming in Copenhagen. Not only that, but Nicolas Winding Refn also announced that the new series will be launching his daughter Lizzie Lou Winding Refn for the first time.
Popular for Drive, Bronson, The Neon Demon, Pusher, Valhalla Rising and Only God Forgives, Nicolas Refn is one of the most critically acclaimed directors. He publicly posted about the Copenhagen Cowboy project on December 28th, 2021.
