Attention viewers! The BAU isn’t going anywhere! They will be back to tackle their biggest case ever, and the deeper they dig, the darker it gets. So, let the mind games begin as Criminal Minds: Evolution was renewed for a second season by Paramount+ on January 12, 2023, and production is scheduled to begin later this year!

If you have tuned into streaming the season, then the first 10-episode season premiered on Thanksgiving and, following a mid-season finale on December 15, 2022, resumed on January 12, 2023, with new episodes. The season finale will drop on February 9, 2023. “We’re thrilled to bring even more twisted storylines to our loyal fans of Criminal Minds: Evolution with the order of another season,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of Paramount Streaming, in a statement. 

“The series has always been a consistent top performer for Paramount+ and fans have quickly embraced this new season with its more serialized elements. We would like to bring attention to the fact that the exact launch date has yet to be determined, as the series was recently renewed by the network. However, it has been speculated that it would most likely have a release window suggested to be around the early months of 2024, as the production for the season will begin later this year. Of course, this is just speculation, and the network will confirm the dates in the near future. It is expected to follow a similar time slot, with new episodes dropping on a weekly basis on Thursdays at 3.01 a.m. ET on Paramount+. We suggest that the viewers be patient and follow all the social media platforms for the series to be updated with the latest information for the second season.

The main cast members who are expected to reprise their roles in the new season are as follows  Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, A.J. Cook as Jennifer Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis, with Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez, and Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss. The recurring cast members include Zach Gilford as Elias Voit, Nicholas D’Agosto as Deputy Director Doug Bailey, Josh Stewart as William LaMontagne, Jr., Kiele Sanchez as Bridget Voit, Nicole Pacent as Rebecca Wilson, and Ryan-James Hatanaka as Tyler Green.

It is expected to have the same range of episodes and is intended to follow the same framework to be consistent. We’d also like to point out that, as of January 17, 2023, the exact titles and numbers for the episodes cannot be confirmed. Episode 1: Just Getting Started: When a family annihilator abducts a teen girl, the Behavioral Analysis Unit works the case on either side of the country to save her, but an unlikely connection to a mysterious kit leads to a bigger investigation.

Episode 2: Sicarius: As the team hunts an UnSub who severs spinal cords, they uncover a clue from their last case that points to a serial killing network; to figure out how big this network is, the team takes a big risk.

Episode 3: Moose: At the heart of the serial killing network is Elias Voit; a dangerous psychopath; manipulative narcissist; loving father and husband; in order to find him, the team must find all of his kill kits.

Episode 4: Pay-Per-View: The BAU hunts for the next connection to the serial killer network when they pursue a home invasion team; Alvez and Garcia convince Tyler Green to submit a cognitive interview to unlock his memories of Sicarius.

Episode 5: Oedipus Wrecks: A surprising connection compels Assistant Director Bailey to ask the team to investigate a case in which an unknown sadist is targeting young Washington socialites.

Episode 6: True Conviction: The explosion looks to have exposed the true mastermind behind Sicarius, but all is not what it seems; the BAU is determined to seek the truth.

The season will continue its run with new episodes on January 19, 2023, with Episode 7, “What Doesn’t Kill Us,” Episode 8, “Forget Me Knots,” on January 26, 2023, Episode 9, “Memento Mori,” on February 2, 2023, and Episode 10, “Dead End,” on February 9, 2023, which will explore more of how the elite squad of FBI profilers analyses the country’s most twisted criminal minds, anticipating the perpetrators’ next moves before they can strike again. The series will be available exclusively on Paramount+, with the prior episodes and some other series of the same genre also accessible on the streaming platform with a range of membership options based on viewers’ locations, and preferences.
