Will there be a Season 3 of Daybreak?
Netflix officially canceled Daybreak in December 2019, just after season one. Aron Coleite, the show’s co-creator, revealed the information in a tweet following the termination of the show.
“We learned last week that Daybreak will not be returning for a second season. We’re so sorry we couldn’t share it with you sooner but also grateful that we got to hang out in these last few live-tweet sessions with all of you,” the statement reads.
“Thank you for picking up what we put down, for running with it in all of your amazing, weird, monstrous ways, and for being such an important part of this show and our experience making it,” the statement adds.
“No one is as heartbroken as we are that we can’t share more of this ride with you. But we’re so grateful to have gotten to bring it this far,” the statement reads.

There’s no information as to why the show has been canceled because the fans were in absolute awe of the series. Some even mentioned how they went ahead and watched it multiple times. Here are a few tweets.
I'm SCREAMING, #DaybreakNetflix is most likely one of my favorite Netflix series of all time, I've watched it three times to make sure I get all the connections and such.
Also, my lizard Hammy loved it as well, her favorite characters are the Golf Club.#Daybreak pic.twitter.com/sm0qBZmK5G— Bugg (@CommanderBugg) November 16, 2019

Today I will mostly be lying in bed, coughing, drinking honey and lemon and binge watching this, which is basically Ferris Bueller’s Apocalypse. It even has Matthew Broderick in it. Fun! #DaybreakNetflix pic.twitter.com/P7rmNNcIGX

Amid all this love, the news of the cancelation of the show was disappointing for many who desperately wanted to see Daybreak Season 2. As Season 1 ended with a cliffhanger, it was obvious, fans wanted to know what happened next but it looks like, we should stop waiting for it now since Netflix has officially canceled the show.
This is how fans reacted to the news of the cancelation of Daybreak Season 2.

A few even decided to go a step ahead and start a petition demanding Daybreak Season 2. However, as there was no response from Netflix, it seems all the fans’ efforts went in vain.

This was not all. Some were so disappointed that they advised others to never start watching a new Netflix show. Why, you ask? Because Netflix cancels it with cliffhangers.
Never ever ever start a new @netflix show. There is simply no point. #DaybreakNetflix #TuesdayMorning https://t.co/IIPXqguRsA

What could have been the story of Daybreak Season 2?
If Daybreak Seaso2 was to ever happen, we could have seen the new social dynamics that resulted from Sam taking the throne as it felt like there were some conspiracies to her ascent in the finale and it could be interesting to see what kind of rule she would’ve exercised during her reign. Talking about Josh, Sam refused his offer of eloping together so, Daybreak Season 2 could have focused on changing Josh’s perception regarding Sam and learning from his past mistakes to survive in this new land.
What is Daybreak about?
The show revolves around a 17-year-old high school outcast Josh searching for his missing girlfriend Sam in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. Josh tries to stay alive among various gangs, zombie-like creatures called Ghoulies, and everything that the terrifying world throws at him. He is joined by a pyromaniac 12-year-old Angelica and Josh’s former high school bully Wesley, now turned pacifist samurai, they all work together and try to navigate their way through the post-apocalyptic world.
Most of the show’s first season revolves around Josh’s search for Sam and the gradual coming together of his crew and the feud that was going on between the gangs of survivors as they fight for dominance in the new world.
How many episodes are there in Daybreak?
Daybreak has 10 episodes that run for 38 to 50 minutes each.
