As per the current reports, the third season of Demon Slayer will narrate the events occurring in the original manga’s ninth arc, the Swordswith Village arc, which directly follows the Entertainment District arc. The latter ended with Tanjiro and Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui gaining victory over the demon siblings Gyutaro and Daki. The only permanent casualty in this epic skirmish was Tanjiro’s demon-slaying sword.

Per DigitalSpy, “Demon Slayer season three will see Tanjiro travel to the Swordsmith Village in order to have his blade repaired.”

This crumb of information was corroborated during the special early cinema screening of season three episode one in early March. In the extra-long first episode, the fans caught a glimpse of Tanjiro being in a coma for the past two months. Once he wakes up, Tanjiro realized that his sword was still broken and to exacerbate the matter, he realizes that Master Haganezuka who forged it for him in season one is now refusing to fix it. Consequently, he begins his journey to Swordswith Village.

In the village, he meets the chief who informs him that Haganezuka is missing. On this personal quest, he also comes across two other key players, Genyu Shinazugawa (the furious younger brother of the Wind Hashira) and Love Hashira Kanroji.

The arrival of Kanroji, who tells Tanjiro to investigate the rumors of a powerful weapon sequestered somewhere in the place, proves to be an adventurous excursion for Tanjiro as he quickly immerses himself in the treasure hunt.

Satoshi Hino, who plays Rengoku, identified the key to the exponential success of Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba (via AnimeNewsNetwork):

“Caring for family, the importance of life, and to live one’s life to the fullest are some of the themes in this anime, which everyone around the world can relate to. I feel really blessed that everyone around the world has become one and shares this common sentiment.”
