Duke of Sussex gets emotional and teary-eyed at late Queen’s service

UK monarch Queen Elizabeth II left for her heavenly abode on September 8, 2022. The news of her demise was confirmed by the British Royal family in an official statement. Talking about the 96-year-old Monarch, she breathed her last at the Balmoral Castle situated in Scotland. Members of the royal family reportedly rushed to the Queen’s side on Thursday after it was suggested by the doctors who were concerned about her health.  

Talking about the service of remembrance, it began at the St. Paul’s Cathedral situated in London for the late Queen. Moreover, the audience present there took a moment to observe minutes of silence, after which the present King, Charles III, addressed the nation for the first time. 

The emotional moment

Recently, the royal family had quite an emotional day as the late Queen’s coffin was taken from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall this Wednesday. A procession also followed along with the same King Charles III, Prince Harry, Princess Anne, Prince William, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, who were seen taking to the streets of London. Onlookers witnessed many members of the royal family during that period.

After the procession, Prince Harry and Prince William were also accompanied by their wives, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, for the service of reception of his Majesty’s coffin. It was during that very touching moment that everyone saw Prince Harry getting emotional as he was wiping away his tears while honoring his late grandmother. The Duke of Sussex was overcome with emotions during the mourning service. 

Not only Prince Harry but Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton were also seen getting emotional during the mourning service as they all got together for the Westminster Hall ceremony. The world witnessed a somber occasion with everyone, including the Duchess of Sussex and Princess of Wales, wearing black outfits and pearl jewelry, a royal accessory worn during the mourning period.

Prince Harry’s tribute

Earlier, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, paid a touching tribute to his late grandmother in a statement that reads, “I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings – from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren.”

As of now, Charles III has taken over as the successor of the late Elizabeth II as the UK monarch. For the unversed, he has also become the oldest monarch to ascend the throne at the age of 76 years.
