After weeks of waiting and investing your time in three seasons, if you were looking forward to the next chapter of Duncanville, the chance to binge-watch Duncanville Season 4 was brief as the original Fox network has canceled the show.
The series is listed among the other TV series which are abruptly canceled by the network. Here is everything we know about Duncanville Season 4’s cancellation.
Will there be a Season 4 of Duncanville?
The Fox network announced in June 2022 that the series was canceled after three seasons. As a result, the series has no chance of being renewed by the network, as many original series have been reported to be canceled by major streaming platforms this year.
Even though the series has gained a fair amount of fans who were eager to see more seasons, sadly, Duncanville has fallen into a similar list of canceled series even if the show had the potential to get better after improving the screenplay and the character arcs and a stronger screenplay.
Why did Fox cancel Duncanville Season 4?
The network has decided to cancel the show, and the decision comes as Fox gears up to introduce new animated series, including Dan Harmon’s Krapopolis and Jon Hamm’s Grimsburg.
According to Deadline, “Fox has canceled the series, which comes from Amy Poehler, The Simpsons veteran Mike Scully, and former Simpsons writer-producer Julie Scully, after three seasons. The series is averaging 0.2 in Live+7 numbers with 641,000 viewers and about 1.1M multiplatform viewers per episode. The third season, which premiered in May, recently wrapped up on Fox. However, there are six final episodes the broadcast network does not plan to air that will exclusively stream on Hulu later this year.”

Duncanville Plot
The official Fox website states that Duncanville is centered around a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy, his family, and friends. Like most 15-year-olds, Duncan can see adulthood on the horizon: money, freedom, cars, and girls; but the reality is more like: always being broke, driving with one’s mom sitting shotgun, and babysitting one’s sister. He’s not exceptional, but he has a wild imagination in which he’s never anything less than amazing.
Duncan’s mom, Annie, a parking enforcement officer who dreams of someday being a detective, lives in perpetual fear that her teenage son is one bad decision away from ruining his life and will do anything to stop him. Duncan’s father, Jack, is a classic-rock-obsessed plumber who’s determined to be a better dad than the one he had. Duncan has two sisters: 12-year-old Kimberly and six-year-old Jing. Duncan hangs with his friends Bex, Yangzi, and Wolf. Mia is Duncan’s on-again, off-again crush, and Mr. Mitch is their cool teacher/guidance counselor/occasional school nurse.
What could have been the plot of Duncanville Season 4?
As of July 21, 2022, Duncanville Season 3 has aired all 10 episodes of the series, which concluded on June 26, 2022. The 10th episode, simply titled “Moneyballs,” is directed by Marius Alecse and written by Andrew Lee and is estimated to be viewed by 0.52 million US viewers. The official synopsis of the episode states, “After Duncan gets a job and starts contributing to the household budget, he believes he’s entitled to be the head of the family; Jack wants to impress his dad and prove he has control over his household.”
In the finale episode, the viewers get to see that Jack continues to try to impress Dick while the rest of the Harrises take him out to dinner, while Duncan arranges a house party in secret at home. When they get back home, Jack is cut off from using their credit cards after Dick reprimands him for being lenient toward Duncan. On the advice of his pals, Duncan accepts a position at Ray’s hardware shop and uses his newfound wealth to pay Kimberly and Jing to serve as maids and speak with a British accent, as well as to purchase items for the family.
Duncan undergoes a personality change and begins to treat Jack and Annie harshly, just like Dick, when he sees that Jack is using his new position as an additional means of impressing Dick. Annie contacts Dick to come and break up a fight between Jack and Duncan when they become irate on the roof. He convinces them to admit their feelings for one another, and Dick, at last, acknowledges Jack. The family decides to retain the hole so they can see the stars even when they fall through the ceiling. Jack uses a nail gun to close the door while Dick grumbles while using the restroom.
Unfortunately, due to the cancellation, the fans won’t be able to predict how these characters would have progressed. The story would have continued from this point and expanded to examine the character interactions and subplots if the fourth season had been renewed, which would have encouraged fans to stick with the show for a while.
