The wait is finally over! The much-awaited upcoming American action thriller film, Extraction, directed by Sam Hargrave and written by Joe Russo and based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, is all set to premiere worldwide on Friday, June 16, 2023, exclusively on Netflix.

It will have a time slot of 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET), just like the other original series and movies that are exclusively available on the streaming platform. For you, we’ve shared a list below of major locations and the time that Netflix original series and movies are typically released.

This schedule is generally followed by new releases, but there may occasionally be exceptions. We’ll make sure to let you know if that’s the situation if it happens with this movie, which seems unlikely. The countdown to the release of the sequel has now officially begun and has been confirmed on the official Twitter handle with a new clip, quoting, “You only get one shot at a second chance. Chris Hemsworth returns in Extraction 2, premiering June 16!”

Extraction 2: What to expect?

After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. Hemsworth reunites with director Sam Hargrave, with Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO producing and Joe Russo writing. Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, with Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also co-starring.

The main cast members in the sequel include Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a former SASR operator turned black ops mercenary, Golshifteh Farahani as Nik Kahn, a mercenary and partner of Tyler, Adam Bessa as Yaz Kahn, a member of Nik’s crew, Olga Kurylenko as Mia, Tinatin Dalakishvili as Ketevan, Andro Jafaridze as Sandro, Miriam, and Marta Kovziashvili as Nina, Daniel Bernhardt as Knostantine, Tornike Gogrichiani as Zurab, Levan Saginashvili as Vakhtang, and George Lasha as Sergo.

This is a sequel to the first film that was based on the graphic novel ‘Ciudad‘ by Ande Parks, from a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo & Anthony Russo, with illustrations by Fernando León González. Moreover, Extraction 2 is produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Chris Hemsworth, Patrick Newall, and Sam Hargrave, with Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Benjamin Grayson, Steven Scavelli, Christopher Markus, and Stephen McFeely as executive producers.

Originally set to start in Sydney, Australia, in September 2021, filming for the sequel was relocated to Prague as a result of COVID-19 pandemic-related measures. Hargrave later revealed that principal photography had started in Prague, Czech Republic. On January 28, 2022, additional filming in Vienna, Austria, began, and in Donau City, scenes were filmed close to the DC Towers. The last day of the shooting was April 6, 2022. But, in November 2022, the film’s retakes were shot in Prague.

Extraction 2 along with the first movie will be available exclusively on Netflix, with other series and movies of the same genre also accessible with a range of membership options. The official teaser trailer for Extraction 2 was released a few hours ago by Netflix. The jam-packed 2:03-minute clip showcases a brutal Chris Hemsworth like you’ve probably never seen him before. The teaser doesn’t disclose any plot details, but it does show that Tyler Rake did, in fact, survive the events of the first movie. The clip also showcases an impressive combat sequence while Rake is shown firing a machine gun at an enemy helicopter from atop a railway in the trailer’s epilogue.
