With Extraction claiming its position among the top 10, it does not come as a shocker that Extraction 2 will be on its way. The Russo brothers’ success with its predecessor has left the fans wanting more, and guess what? That’s exactly what they’ll be getting. The sequel has reportedly completed its shooting, however, its release won’t be before 2023.
Directed by Sam Hargrave, Extraction stars Chris Hemsworth, and it was inspired by Ande Park’s Ciudad. Upon its release, the movie was an instant success. Hargrave recently announced The Gray Man‘s release, followed by a slew of other Netflix movies that they will be releasing along with Extraction 2.
In 2021, at the TUDUM event, Netflix released a teaser trailer of Extraction 2.
Originally, Extraction 2 was scheduled to shoot in Australia. However, a COVID-19 case was confirmed among the team members, due to which the filming location was changed to Prague, the Czech Republic’s capital from New South Wales. Sydney and Melbourne, which were also integral shooting locations, were put on lockdown until September 30.
When will Extraction 2 be released?
Although there is no official date announcement regarding the movie’s release, the movie is set to release in 2023, according to Collider.
According to a couple of Instagram posts of Hemsworth and Sam Hargrave, the filming of Extraction 2 was finished in April this year. To the dismay of the fans worldwide, the movie won’t be released this year.

What can we expect in Extraction 2?
The official synopsis of Extraction reads:
“After surviving a massive battle in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tyler Rake returns with serious wounds from the mission. He will be accompanied by his team, ready to take on the next mission. Tyler has been tasked with extracting the family, who is also at the mercy of a Georgian mobster. It appears that in order to protect them, Tyler has to penetrate one of the world’s most dangerous prisons. While the extraction is heating up and the gangster is being hunted down in Sydney, Rake and his squad has been hunting them down to exact revenge.”
Although there is no specific plotline for this highly anticipated sequel, according to Collider, Joe Russo said that Extraction 2 “has a different color schematic. It’s set in a different part of the world. It has a different pace and a different tone than the first one. And that, to us, is an interesting way to approach serializing a story, is that it’s more surprising and unexpected, and you’re not going to get the exact same movie that you got the last time out.”
