The BLACKPINK members have been the subject of love and criticism both in the past few years. Recently, Jennie has received a lot of hate owing to her dancing style. But her fans have never failed to come to her rescue.

A now-deleted video by Billboard has caused outrage among the BLINKs. If reports are to be believed, the video featured some unfavorable comments about the Like Jennie’s singer’s performance style.

What was in the video?

The official video shared by Billboard was about people giving their opinions on viral moments of some of the popular female artists worldwide. It also included a short clip of BLACKPINK’s Jennie, who is seen dancing on stage. That’s when there is a mention of people who often call her ‘lazy.’ 

To showcase the same, a person is interviewed and asked to comment on Jennie’s stage presence. Here’s what she said, “She [Jennie] was always like that for years, maybe just her face, her emotions, her attitude.” This triggered reactions from several netizens, most of whom are fans of Jennie as well. 

Massive criticism over the video

Several netizens called out Billboard for allowing such content to be uploaded on their platform. Many were of the opinion that the video adds to the already existing negative stereotypes about Jennie. 

A few others called out Billboard’s hypocrisy by reminding how the platform often collaborated with the singer for several interviews and shoots. In fact, Jennie was also honored with the Global Force Award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards this year.

The aftermath

After the backlash, Billboard’s video was quickly deleted. Of course, fans of Jennie were still not satisfied, and many even took to social media and demanded a formal apology or statement from the outlet to address the issue. 

The situation escalated further when a few netizens identified the host of the now-deleted video and left negative comments on her social media accounts. Later, the host tried to defend herself by saying that she did not know who BLACKPINK was and that she was only hired to conduct interviews for the day. 

In other news, Jennie, along with other members of BLACKPINK, is now focusing on their world tour, which comprises 31 performances across 16 cities. The K-pop girl group has successfully completed their North American schedule, which included performances in Goyang, Toronto, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.
