According to Netflix, the second season follows the plot as school’s back in session under the militant authority of Alfea’s former Headmistress Rosalind. With the Burned Ones gone, Dowling ‘disappeared,’ and Silva imprisoned for treason, the Alfea of last year has grown up with new magic, new romances, and new faces. But when fairies start to go missing in the night, Bloom and her suitemates discover a dangerous threat lurking in the shadows. One they’ll have to stop before it wreaks havoc on the entire Otherworld.

Freddie Thorp as Riven: A nonchalant second-year Specialist and Sky’s best friend. He is romantically involved with Beatrix.
Eva Birthistle as Vanessa Peters: Bloom’s adoptive mother. Because of an incident where Bloom lost control of her powers, she is covered in burn scars.
Robert James-Collier as Saul Silva: The fencing instructor at Alfea and Sky’s guardian. He was mentored by Sky’s father and raised Sky after his death.

In recent cast updates, Paulina Chávez, Brandon Grace, and Éanna Hardwicke were announced to join the second season as Flora, Grey, and Sebastian on July 20, 2021. Despite the backlash, Applebaum reprised his role as Musa. Miranda Richardson and Daniel Betts were revealed on July 27, 2022, to replace Lesley Sharp and Alex Macqueen as Rosalind and Professor Ben Harvey.
