For the last two years, with each new season, FBI: International has proven itself to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of crime television. This is the second spin-off from Dick Wolf’s drama FBI and the third series in the FBI franchise, which promises to be packed with heart-pounding action, intricate investigations, and a cast of brilliant agents. This gripping crime drama series will certainly continue to push boundaries and delve deeper into the complex world of international espionage.

Due to high interest, there are many queries circulating on the web relating to its current status, which has been raised by fans for weeks, especially ever since the second season, which aired its finale episode back in May 2023, ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving the fans questioning, “Whether FBI: International Season 3 is coming this month? If not this month, then when?” If you are sharing the same thought, then don’t worry!

Here is everything we currently know about FBI: International Season 3’s potential release date.

FBI: International Season 3 Release Date: What is it expected to return?

Even though the previously released 2023–24 fall schedule indicated that the new season would make its official return sometime around the fall season, September 2023 being the ideal release window with new episodes premiering every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. on the CBS network, which was a great update for the viewers to get a heads-up! But sadly, the celebrations were short-lived, as since the early announcement, things seem to have taken a wide turn, which was quite unexpected!

The emergence of the ongoing 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, which started a few weeks ago, has caused many production houses to temporarily halt their work. This makes any anticipation for the show’s official return in July 2023 completely impossible!

Many reports circulating have suggested that the writing for the next season has not started, which is quite unfortunate when we consider the fact that filming usually begins by the summer season if the network is aiming for its fall release later this year. Moreover, now that we know that the show isn’t in production, the release could be further delayed if SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP can’t come to an agreement with the new extended deadline, which can also trigger an actor strike!

It’s quite fair to say that things are quite tense at the moment as major changes in the schedule can happen in the coming months, which has been hinted at by George Cheeks, President and CEO of CBS and Chief Content Officer, who stated during a keynote at Banff moderated by Deadline’s Peter White, “We wanted to build our schedule for when the world goes back to normal.” Further adding, “Once we had done that, once we locked it in, we spent a lot of time focusing on what it was going to look like.” He elaborated that a revised CBS fall scheduling plan is expected to be revealed soon.

“First of all, obviously it’s going to be very reality-heavy,” he said. In conclusion, it’s not farfetched to assume that the content of the CBS fall schedule can be changed as production is assumed to resume later this year, which makes the chances of the show’s return this year seem minimal. It can eventually premiere sometime in early to mid-2024, with new episodes airing every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. on CBS. It’s only a matter of time until the new schedule becomes known in order to avoid any undue obstacles.

As a result, we ask fans to be patient and keep an eye on social media for more information on the potential new release date, which will ultimately be acknowledged by the creators in the near future. Until there is any official confirmation, we anticipate that the season might still be heading to a 2023 schedule with a lower episode count. *Finger’s Crossed*

FBI: International Season 3 Plot: What can we expect to see in the new season?

The show’s creators have remained tight-lipped about any potential plotlines, but they will include beloved characters returning along with some new characters seeing the rapidly expanding field of the second spin-off from Dick Wolf’s drama FBI, which follows a team of FBI Special Agents who investigate crime and terrorism abroad. Due to this, the fans are hopeful that the new season will also live up to their expectations and provide plenty of drama and excitement.

As it is expected to capture the basic premise, which follows:

From Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf, “FBI: International,” follows the elite operatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s International Fly Team. Headquartered in Budapest, they travel the world with the mission of tracking and neutralizing threats against American citizens wherever they may be. Not allowed to carry guns, the Fly Team members rely on intelligence, quick thinking, and pure brawn as they put their lives on the line to protect the U.S. and its people.

“The FBIs are one of the most successful brands in the entire TV landscape and a powerful cornerstone of our number one lineup,” said Kelly Kahl, President of CBS Entertainment. “They’ve attracted a dedicated, loyal fan base, thanks to the extraordinary vision of executive producer Dick Wolf and the talents of all three outstanding casts and creative teams. I know we and our viewers look forward to two additional seasons of engaging, heroic stories.”

“Everybody who works on these three shows is over the moon about the multi-year pickups,” added Dick Wolf, executive producer and FBI brand creator. “We are all incredibly grateful to CBS and our partners at Universal Television and CBS Studios. And I personally would like to thank the incredible casts, talented writers, and dedicated producers, not to mention three crews who never missed an air date despite the difficulties of producing full seasons during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Moreover, the next season is also expected to pick up the plot right from the second season’s finale, “Fencing the Mona Lisa,” released on May 23, 2023, which was directed by Michael Katleman and written by Matt Olmstead and Edgar Castillo. In the episode, the viewers got to see that when a Russian missile is stolen and put on the black market in Budapest, the team must secure the weapon before a mysterious American arms broker delivers it into the wrong hands.

FBI: International Season 3 Episodes: Where to stream?

The next season is expected to have about 21–22 episodes with a runtime of 43–53 minutes, which are expected to air on a weekly basis. It is intended to follow the same count to maintain the story’s flow. We’d also like to point out that the titles and synopsis have not been released, as these details will be revealed once the release date draws closer to avoid any leakage of the plotlines. However, the official episode count is still subject to change due to the strike, which can be lowered in order to release it on time.

When available, the episodes will air on CBS and later on Paramount Plus, just like the prior seasons. The viewers can also catch up with all the seasons on FuboTV. Moreover, all seasons of FBI: International are available for renting or purchasing on Amazon Instant Video and Vudu, with a vast number of membership plans. The series is also available to watch exclusively on CBS’s official website and app for free, where the episodes are published after they air on the TV channel, based on the user’s location.
