FBI Season 5 Finale: Release Date and Time Slot
The final episode, “God Complex,” of the fifth season will air next week on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the same time slot of 8/7c followed by “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted” on CBS and later on Paramount Plus. The episode is directed by Alex Chapple and written by Rick Eid, and Joe Halpin.
The official synopsis states: “When a prominent doctor is found dead in a ritualistic slaying, the team must race against time to hunt down a religiously motivated serial killer; Scola faces a life-or-death decision.”
According to TV Insider’s exclusive first look, the team will be feeling the pressure on the job but also presumably feature something major for one of them off the job, with Shantel VanSanten returning as Nina Chase. You may recall that she was last seen in the significant three-show crossover exchanging “I love yous” with Scola after being shot, both of them pleased that she and their child were unharmed.
“That’s really the story that we’re telling is that it’s not just to get the girl in the end,” Boyd told TV Insider. Further adding, “There’s something deeper about what these people do and how they care about each other and that’s what’s important in their story after these three hours is that they know that they love each other in a way that they didn’t understand before.”

FBI Season 5: A quick recap of the season so far
The official synopsis of the series states, “FBI is a fast-paced drama about the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This elite unit brings to bear all their talents, intellect, and technical expertise on major cases in order to keep New York and the country safe.”
This season begins with the team pivoting when their sting operation to secure a massive bomb from an illegal broker leads them to discover that the device is already in the wrong hands.
Jubal’s promise to be present at his son’s birthday party is put to the test. When an officer is shot dead at a pawn shop along with the store’s owner, the team tries to figure out why a young, recent Ivy League dropout is tied to the crime.
As the team investigates a deadly robbery, it discovers one of the perpetrators is a classmate of Jubal’s son.
The team investigates a series of brutal assaults, and OA hides information about his own mugging. When a wealthy accountant is gunned down for secretly testifying against a notorious drug lord, the team’s investigation leads Tiffany to ask for help from a friend who was formerly with the NYPD and is related to the dangerous crime boss.
As the team works to rescue a 5-year-old kidnapping victim, Scola suspects the boy’s mother isn’t forthcoming about why her son was targeted. Nina struggles to open up to Scola about matters in their relationship. Maggie returns from medical leave and helps the team investigate two homicides: a law student and a young man with possible gang ties.
An inadvertent revelation from Maggie causes OA to worry that she is rushing back into the job too quickly. The abduction of a young woman leads the team back to a cold case from 18 years ago, which pushes Isobel to reconnect with her old partner Jake and take another shot at solving one of her first cases at the bureau.
The team jumps into action when analyst Kelly Moran is taken, hostage. After a mysterious bioweapon leaves two MTA workers dead and one injured, the team rushes to determine who is behind the attack and the location of their next target. Jubal’s past demons begin to surface. The team investigates the murder of a professional informant after he’s found dead outside an abandoned factory, and Maggie reconnects with an old colleague and mentor.
When an off-duty diplomatic security agent is fatally shot in New York City while trying to apprehend someone, the team investigates if there’s a connection to his time working in Croatia.
Maggie calls in Remy to aid Scola in his undercover mission to find the terrorists believed to be responsible for the imminent attack in New York. When a trucker is gunned down after a routine trip from Canada, all signs point the team to a noted criminal on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list. Jubal gets to work with an old friend and colleague, Detective Jack Lombardo. A drug dealer is shot in a federal park, and the team sets out to look for his killer.
Maggie’s sister returns to New York, complicating the case. All eyes are on the team when it tries to find out who kidnapped the only child of a prominent U.S. senator; the abduction also uncovers a potential link to a similar case that was pushed to the side by local authorities. After finding a group of teens dead from a drug overdose, the team races to find the dangerous dealer and his supplier; OA questions where he stands in his faith.
In addition to this, when the finale episode is available, it will air on CBS and later on Paramount Plus.
