The exponential popularity of the FBI as a crime procedural has led to the formation of several offshoots, creating a universe of its own kind that’s been on air since 2018. Starring the critically acclaimed cast which includes Missy Peregrym and Jeremy Sisto, FBI has garnered the reputation of being one of the most intriguing procedural drama series, featuring some of the most chilling crime dramas on television.
For those unversed, FBI is modelled around a team of special agents in New York whose job is to investigate some of the bone-chilling crime cases. An amalgamation of shows like Law & Order and NCIS, FBI weaves good storytelling on its weekly procedural schedule with compelling characters. No wonder why it enjoys a five-season run, followed by a sixth-season renewal. As ScreenRant mentions, “FBI season 6 is a highly anticipated returning series.”
Be that as it may, the recent WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have postponed the production schedules of some of the most popular shows and movies, and the fans are fearing whether FBI season 6 would also meet the same fate.
Here’s what we know so far about the same.
Will FBI Season 6 get canceled due to the strike?

FBI was renewed for a sixth season in early 2022 by CBS, along with renewing the other FBI shows. Season 6 renewal came when FBI was airing season 4. This means that it had enough time to begin with its production. However, as per the latest news conveyed by ScreenRant, FBI season 6 also met the same fate as that of its counterparts: its production schedule is put on a halt and thus, this crime procedural drama won’t air on CBS this year. Its premiere is delayed indefinitely.
Be that as it may, that does not mean that CBS would cancel the sixth season of the show owing to the strikes. Given its early season renewal, it will begin once the strikes cease to continue. After its season 6 premiere, CBS would have to indubitably think whether to cancel the show or renew it again for the seventh instalment.
The WGA strike began in May 2023, with the SAG-AFTRA joining hands with the union in July 2023. Both the unions were protesting against the authorities for payment of streaming residuals and their replacement by AI.
Now, that the strike has reached a potential end due the agreement, we can expect FBI season 6 to begin with its production soon. If this happens, the series will expectantly air its first episode by late 2024 or early 2025. At the moment, the only crime procedural drama confirmed to air as the part of CBS 2023-2024 TV season is NCIS: Sydney, an offshoot of the original NCIS series.
