When will the action-packed television series return for another chapter with Cal Fire? Here is everything we know so far about
Fire Country Season 2.

If you have tuned in to know the new updates, then there is no doubt that you’ll know that CBS has been facing a major obstacle in their way for the 2023–24 broadcast season, which has already been impacted due to the rising momentum of the ongoing 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike along with the 2023 WGA strike, which hasn’t ended on any agreement. This happened soon after recovering from all the sudden schedule and production changes that happened due to COVID-19.

Eventually, the majority of the production for the new shows came to a halt, and it looks like the time to dive back into the gripping world of Fire Country with the much-awaited second season might take a bit longer than usual! Yes, sadly, the action drama television series created by Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater for CBS, which has kept audiences on the edge of their seats with its intense storylines and captivating performances, won’t be premiering anytime soon this year or in the usual fall broadcast season of 2023.

Even though this is unfortunate news, worry not! To avoid any further confusion about the potential release date of the highly anticipated new season, For you, we have compiled all the latest information that has been confirmed by the network since the news about the delay in release was confirmed. Continue reading to find out more about Fire Country Season 2.

Fire Country Season 2 Expected Release Date: Will it premiere in 2023 or not?

As of writing this, we want to get straight across the point that the official release date for Fire Country Season 2 has not been acknowledged by the CBS network! We know that the fans were excited to see Bode Donovan engulfed in the scorching flames excitement as Fire Country Season 2 blazes its way back onto our screens once again with the hope that he gets to redeem himself by volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program, which prisoners assist the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Sadly, all these great updates were short-lived, as the previously hinted schedule for Fire Country Season 2 has undergone some major changes! Yes, you heard it right—the primetime schedule, which was expected to begin for the fall of the 2023–2024 television season, with September being the best release window with new episodes airing every Friday at 9/8c on CBS and Paramount Plus, just like the first season might be going off script this year, as it has been confirmed that the show won’t be able to premiere on the approved schedule which was earlier set of this year.

Fire Country Season 2 is not coming in 2023

The main reason for such major changes in the fall schedule is the ongoing 2023 WGA strike along with the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, which doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon, as the recent meeting also ended with mixed results. Hence, this will cause a major halt in script writing and production, which usually begins around August if the network wants to air the new season in the fall. Hence, right now, it’s safe to say that the show might not be available to stream anytime soon or later this year, making the fandom wait for longer than they anticipated!

Hence, if we look at the current status, one thing is clear: the network might be considering skipping the entirety of the 2023–24 fall premiere by approving the release window for some time around 2024 (the first quarter of 2023, starting from January to March), just like other networks by rescheduling all the scripted series until next year by keeping the remaining schedule for this year filled with non-scripted shows, which usually includes reruns and reality shows to fill the empty slots. In conclusion, it’s not farfetched to assume that the chances of the show’s official return with a new season sometime later in 2023 seem very minimal!

It can eventually premiere sometime in early to mid-2024, which will be confirmed later. Until then, this is only a prediction that the show’s creators might consider the late completion of the scripts and come up with the best approach to avoid any obstacles in the future. As a result, we ask fans to be patient and keep an eye on social media channels for more information on the probable release date, which will ultimately be acknowledged. For the time being, we also urge the readers to check out the new revised fall CBS’s 2023–24 schedule, which includes the following shows:

Fire Country Season 2 Plot: What can the viewers expect from the new season?

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) serves as the inspiration for the premise of the CBS television series, which has an entirely creative storyline. When Thieriot started developing the concept for the series, he drew inspiration from his memories of growing up in Northern California’s fire region. The series uses the nearby village of Fort Langley to portray the fictional Northern California town of Edgewater. Additionally, establishing shots for the city of Edgewood were filmed in Rio Dell, in Humboldt County, California, where the show is set.

In order to guarantee authenticity, Thieriot and the rest of the actors also contacted actual firemen. “We work with a bunch of different firefighters, from all over, with many years of experience,” the Point Break star told Collider in January 2023. “A couple of the guys that we have up here both have about 30 years. We really try to bring in as much of the authenticity as we possibly can. It’s always that fine line of telling these dramatic stories for television but also respecting the job that people do, and we try to keep those two things close.”

Recently, Diane Farr (Sharon Leone) told TVInsider what she’d like to see happen, quote, “I’m hoping to explore what happens when a codependent person who wants to save other people is saved by somebody else. So in the best-case scenario, seeing someone care for me would make me want to learn how to care for myself, but that’s not really how it happens. Usually, you’re like, ‘Oh, I have to go find someone that’s going to care for me.’ So whether that’s Luke or someone else, it’s just going to be interesting if she can’t put all of her time into saving her son or sort of in a way keeping her marriage afloat.”

Hence, the show’s basic theme will be carried further into the new season, which follows: “Bad choices don’t make a bad man. At least that’s what Bode Donovan’s been told. Midway through a five-year prison stretch, he’s been trying to convince himself of it, too. He gets the chance to prove it, signing on to an unconventional prison-release program: in exchange for reduced sentences, convicts are paired with firefighters battling Northern California wildfires. The heat is turned up when Bode’s assigned to the program in his rural hometown, the place where all his troubles began.”

There is also no doubt that the next season will pick up from the final episode, “I Know It Feels Impossible,” which was watched by 5.32 million US viewers. The episode was directed by Dermott Downs and written by Tia Napolitano. The following synopsis of the episode states, “The station 42 and third rock crews face a daring rescue when a massive mudslide tears through Edgewater. Meanwhile, Bode’s (Max Theriot) freedom is on the line at his parole hearing.” There are many unresolved plotlines that will be addressed in the next season to build up the hype!

Fire Country Season 2 Cast: Who will reprise their roles in the new season?

The main cast members who are expected to reprise their roles are as follows: Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan (aka Bode Leone), Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez, Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford, Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela Perez, Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards, Diane Farr as Sharon Leone, and Billy Burke as Vince Leone. Other actors such as W. Tré Davis as Freddy Mills and Michael Trucco as Luke Leone are likely to make recurring appearances in Season 2, further adding depth and intrigue to the series. Additionally, it was also reported that Zach Tinker had joined the cast in an undisclosed capacity.

Moreover, back in March 2023, it was announced that Rebecca Mader and Kanoa Goo would be cast in recurring roles. Mader’s character, Faye, will play a pivotal part in the storyline with her serving as the leader of a private concierge firefighting company and developing both a professional and personal connection with Manny. Kanoa Goo will bring his talents to Fire Country as Kyle, an extremely fit swimmer who arrives to participate in a swim clinic. Kyle shares a familiar acquaintance with Gabriela and seems to take an interest in becoming Bode’s new romantic rival. While Gabriela sees Kyle as a trusted friend, his actions suggest that he might be attempting to win her heart.

Announcements of new cast members are still being made, and there is a chance more will be confirmed later. In addition to this, the series is produced by CBS Studios and Universal Television, with Thieriot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater serving as executive producers, among other crew members. As the anticipation builds for the upcoming season, fans can’t help but get excited about what lies ahead. Fans can expect nothing short of memorable performances from their beloved cast members, who have proven time and again their incredible talent and dedication to their craft.

Fire Country Season 2 Episodes: How many will be there, and where to stream?

The next season is anticipated to include at least 22 episodes, and it is meant to be consistent with its predecessor. We would like to point out that the official episode count may vary owing to the ongoing dual strike, which might get extended until October 2023 if not concluded early, which may have prompted the makers of the show to slash the number of episodes by creating a shorter season with 15 to 18 episodes so that the season may air on the allotted schedule.

We would also like to highlight that the filming of the new season is speculated to be put on hold because of the ongoing strikes, which include WGA and SAG-AFTRA, otherwise known as the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, joining the WGA, or the Writers Guild of America. Moreover, the chances of the network releasing details about the new episodes are minimal in order to avoid spoilers.

Diane Farr also spoke about the unpredictability of filming Season 2, quote, “We were supposed to be back at work in two weeks. It would be written and done now,” told The Messenger. She added that the strike could also impact the episode count of the second season, quoting, “We were supposed to go back and do 22 [episodes], which would take us through the whole season, but when we go back later, they won’t air new stuff in the summer because everybody’s vacationing. We may only get 18 episodes of Fire Country or 12.”

Moreover, Warren Leight also took to Twitter to express his viewers as he wrote, “Today many network dramas would have begun shooting their 4th episode of the fall season,” “If the strike were somehow to end by Labor Day and shooting were to begin in early fall, the networks might be able to salvage a 13 episode season. The clock keeps ticking.”

On the other hand, if the readers want to receive updates on any changes and when the show premieres on the respective streaming platforms, they can also enable notifications on the respective platforms.

When released, Fire Country Season 2, along with prior episodes, will be available on the CBS app and website (After broadcast) and later on Paramount Plus. The first season is also available to stream on FuboTV, depending on viewers’ locations, like many CBS series. The show might also be available to rent or buy on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, and Vudu, depending on the preferred membership plans that the users can choose from.

Fire Country Season 2 Official Trailer: Is it available?

As stated above, the network hasn’t released any new promos for the second season as filming hasn’t yet commenced, leaving a lot of time for the official marketing to begin, which usually begins a month or two before the premiere. We’ll just have to wait and see what the next few months have in store for us in relation to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike along with the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, as everything concerning the filming status is also neither here nor there!

Due to this, we are certain that no new promos will be released anytime soon. In the meantime, check out the official trailer for Fire Country Season 1 below, which has received a fairly mixed reception. The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 50% approval rating with an average rating of 4.3/10, based on 8 critic reviews. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 55 out of 100 based on 5 critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews.”
