How will Station 42 function after Bode is officially out of prison?

*Spoilers*

We know that Bode is officially a free man and wants to continue riding his redemption arc to being a permanent Cal Fire Squad member. For that, he begs his Uncle Luke to pull some strings to get him in. Luke’s livelihood is also at stake given Sharon’s attempts to take over after realizing his involvement in the conviction of Manny. The upcoming season will give us an answer to these cliffhangers as well as the fate of Bode’s future.

With all the excitement building up for Season 3, an exciting addition to the cast has been confirmed that Supernaturals fans will be excited about. With its premiere date set for October 18, 2024, Season 3 of the CBS special procedural drama is teeming with new updates. Before you tune into the new season, here is everything you should know.

Where did Fire Country Season 2 leave things off?

After two seasons of working to redeem his criminal history, Donavan Bode finally earned his freedom and got out of the orange prison uniform. His quest for development did not end there. After his effective firefighting skills were put to use, which earned him a shorter prison sentence, Bode is desperately trying to be an official Cal Fire Squad member. When he was informed that he was possibly Glen’s father (even though it was later proven to be false), it instilled in him the drive to be better.

In other news, his long-term flame Gabriella was headed down the aisle to marry Diego, even after they shared a passionate kiss on the night of the campaign. Since the wedding was cut short right before she was supposed to say ‘I do,’ we are unsure if she went through with it. Although Bode and Gabriella’s spark is off the charts, Diego seems to be a stable option for her.

After the Season 2 finale, showrunner Tia Napolitano told TV Guide, “Gabriela and Diego’s relationship is a smart match. He is the logical choice. He’ll give her a great life. He’s a sweet guy. He has a wonderful family. He’s a talented guy. He’s gorgeous. They have chemistry. They go dancing together. Their marriage would be a strong one and a long one.” She further teased the question, “Is it her ultimate true love? I think that’s for her to tell us and for us to explore.” On the bright side, she had her father walk her down the aisle, which had always been her dream, even though it did not end on a good note.

Fire Country Season 3: Trailer

The official trailer for Season 3 has been released and it is riveting. In the first few seconds, Bode walks out of the church where Gabriella is being wed to Diego, which disappoints her. She hesitates before saying ‘I do,’ but the entire ceremony is cut short when something flies in through the church glass, shattering it, with the wedding guests screaming and ducking out of the way.

The next thing we know, Gabriella is in her wedding dress running out with her team to solve the mysterious attack. The rest of the trailer includes snippets of firefighting action scenes, coupled with Bode fearlessly completing missions, and engaging in motivating self-talk. There is one moment in the trailer where Gabriella and Bode are seen getting intimate, which makes us question if she went through with the wedding at all.

Let’s take a look at some of the plotlines Season 3 will explore.

Bode’s determination shone through his endeavors when he was sent to put out fires all over California. His missions got him out of prison and into the firefighting realm. In Season 3, his journey will continue as we witness him striving to join the official squad, for which he employs the help of Luke. However, asking for help from his uncle might lead him to be in the middle of an ugly civil war between Luke and Sharon, who is out to get his job. Whether this conflict will affect Bode’s placement in the firefighter squad is something we will explore in Season 3.

Max Theriot (who plays Bode) spoke to TV Line about his return to the show for Season 3 and the possible future for his character. He noted, “I’m considering it a season of wish fulfillment. We finally get to see Bode out, after wanting it since the pilot.”

Since Bode had spent the majority of Season 1 and 2 in prison, he was only seen with the rest of the cast members when he was sent on fire duty. Otherwise, most of the time we saw him secluded in prison. Now that he is a free man, we can finally watch him mingle and be a part of the entire firefighting clan.

Theriot added, “It’s such a long time coming, and the fun of getting to see him in places where all our characters have been this whole time will be a fresh engine for season 3, and a really fun, aspirational place for us to tune in every week.”

Bode and Gabriella’s volatile relationship

The Bode and Gabriella ship has been a mess since Season 1. They have a love that is epic and electric, but there is seldom any safety or stability. Due to Bode’s troubled past and his falling into undesirable situations, their timing has never been right. Even in Season 2, Bode mustered up the courage to confess his feelings towards Gabriella on her wedding day but instead walked out on the ceremony. Gabriella is looking for stability, and even though she feels strongly about Bode, Diego is a safer option for her.

Through the trailer, we see that her wedding to Diego was interrupted right before she said ‘I do,’ and it is unclear whether she went through with the wedding later. Nevertheless, we witness the start of a steamy moment between her and Bode in one snippet of the trailer, which suggests they are back to square one.

The odds seem to favor their relationship in Season 3 now that Bode is out of prison, with his paternal affairs in order, and is determined to be a successful firefighter. Season 3 will dive deeper into their relationship dynamic with their environments altered.

Fire Country Season 3 announces a cast addition

Supernaturals and Walker series lead Jared Padalecki is confirmed to appear in Season 3 for at least 3 episodes, per Deadline. He is set to play SoCal firefighter Camden who is also described as a “maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s (Thieriot) raw talent.” It will be interesting to watch Bode’s dynamic with him in the upcoming season.

Deadline has also speculated that Padalecki’s involvement in Fire Country Season 3 might help him lead a spinoff of the series, other than the one that is already under works. This is still in its early stages and heavily depends on how his performance turns out in Fire Country. With two successful series under his belt, the Gilmore Girls alum is a welcome addition to the cast.

Other than Padalecki, here is a list of the cast members who will reprise their roles for Season 3:

  • Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan
  • Rafael de la Fuente as Diego Moreno
  • Billy Burke as Vince Leone
  • Diane Farr as Sharon Leone
  • Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez
  • Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela Perez
  • Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards
  • Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford
  • Jared Padalecki as Camden
