Shows with a touch of history and the right blend of stories help us understand what various cultures hold within. Foundation has been premiering since 2021 on the Apple TV+ network, with two seasons now coming to a completion. It has an IMDb rating of 7.5/10 and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 86%.
The show is based on a trilogy book series that came out between 1951 and 1953 and parts four and five out in 1988 and 1993, respectively. It is based on The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Isaac Asimov.
However, the show is based around the same concept in a sci-fi world. With season two nearing a conclusion and Apple TV+ not hinting at a season three yet, fans are curious to know if the show shall return. Here is all we know so far about Foundation Season 3.
Foundation Season 3 renewal status:

The creator, David S Goyer, has not confirmed any rumors going around regarding the coming of a season 3 or its filming process. It is because the show has just finished airing on September 15, 2023, and there is some time until a renewal comes in. But based on the number of books available and to provide a coherent end to the trilogy, there are maximum chances for the confirmation and renewal of season three, coming in soon. David said in an interview, “We just put the finishing touches on season two around a month ago [May 2023], and so much of what happens with season three will depend on how well this season is received in the first few weeks.”
Lou Llobell, who plays Gaal Dornick, said she is unaware, and so are the other cast members, especially her co-star Leah Harvey, who plays Salvor Hardin. Llobell comments, “I don’t know who started that rumor. But I hope it’s true, I actually can’t talk about that. I don’t know if season three is on the way.” But considering they are part of a Non-Disclosure Agreement, it can imply that there is nothing until Apple TV+ confirms a renewal.
Foundation Season 3 expected release date:

If the show is renewed post-SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, a renewal can be expected by 2024, and the show shall be released by 2025. Chances remain the show can be put on hold or canceled too, as season two was confirmed in October 2021, while season one was still premiering, but commenting on it is only possible after an official announcement.
Foundation Season 3 expected cast:

The same cast would return as a part of season three. They would be;
- Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick
- Jared Harris as Hari Seldon
- Lee Pace as Brother Day
- Leah Harvey Salvor Hardin
- Laura Birn as Demerzel
- Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn
- Alfred Enoch as Raych Seldon
- Daniel MacPherson as Hugo Crast
Foundation Season 3 expected plot:

Season 2. Episode 10 is called “Creation Myths,” whose synopsis reads, “Gaal, Salvor, and Hari chart a new path forward on Ignis; Demerzel heads to Trantor, taking actions that will change Empire forever.” The show ends with a 152-year time jump by setting a war, that what will be left of the Empire and Foundation, along with Mule as a major villain. The death of Salvor proves that the future can be altered, and Gaal’s visions are not always true.
Where to watch Foundation Season 2?
