So, if you are one of those who are eagerly looking for more information on upcoming episodes, then you’ve come to the right place! Here is everything we know about whether there will be Futurama Season 8 Part 2 or not.
Futurama Season 8 Part 2: Is it still happening or not?
We hope that you are aware that the series director, Corey Barnes, has recently clarified that what was initially believed to be the second half of a 20-episode eighth season has now been split equally across two released parts. Both parts are now separate production seasons! Hence, even though there are more new episodes coming! It’s crucial to understand that the eighth season of Futurama has completed its run, and there will be no second part of the eighth season!
On the bright side, the ninth season is already in development and will be released with 10 episodes as well. It’s significant to understand the difference in the numbering of the seasons in order to avoid any confusion in the future. The ninth season has alternatively been titled the ninth season (production) or the twelfth season (broadcast). The list will follow the previous season box sets, which feature the episodes in the original, intended production season order, ignoring the order of broadcast.
With this doubt out of the way, we can assure readers that the exact release date for the new season has still not been acknowledged, as it is way too early to disclose such crucial information. But for your confirmation, we have observed the timeline of the prior seasons, which has made it easy to predict that the new episodes from Futurama Season 9 might make their official comeback sometime around 2024! The gap will be consistent in order to maintain consistency between the series’ respective seasons.
In addition to this, the network has also released details about the next ten episodes from Futurama Season 9, which are as follows:
- Season 9 Episode 1: The One Amigo – TBA

Futurama Season 8: What is the new season about?
The official press release of the popular sci-fi animated comedy Futurama, which is in its eighth season, states:
“After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile, there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.”
*Spoiler Alert*
In the final episode, “All the Way Down,” of the eighth season, we get to see that Professor Farnsworth creates a simulation of their universe, represented as 3-bit models, which causes the Planet Express Crew to wonder if they are living in a simulation. When Amy inadvertently causes Bender to realize that he is technically simulated, he asks Farnsworth to promise not to inform them that they are simulations and that they are not real.
They create a hydroelectric generator to improve their simulations, but the simulations begin to question their existence and decide to witness a megastar exploding, if they begin to experience glitches, then they will know if they are simulated. Bender sends his consciousness down to inform them that they are fake, but the simulations have accepted that they do not care what the answer is as long as they continue to feel. Bender returns and the Farnsworth improves the generator. Time will slow down for the simulations so that they will not suffer the truth for long.
