As Chock Chapple got down on one knee in front of Joan Vassos in The Golden Bachelorette finale on Wednesday, November 13, he placed a visibly shiny ring on the 61-year-old’s finger, declaring them engaged.

What caught the attention of the viewers was not the mesmerizing proposal but the huge stone that was slid into Vassos’ ring finger. The 4-carat ring was custom-made by Neil Lane and is priced at a whopping $80k, making it a rare jewel, per Daily Mail.

As several reports describe, the engagement ring features a “large emerald-cut center stone with two generous tapered diamond baguettes on each side.” The middle stone itself is designed with 56 diamonds cut to perfection.

Lane detailed the thought process behind making Joan’s ring and told People Magazine in an interview, “To celebrate their shared future, I knew exactly the ring design that would perfectly symbolize Joan and Chock’s undeniable connection.”

He held on to three adjectives that define Joan throughout the process of making the ring, that were “elegance”, “integrity” and “sophistication.” He first met the bride-to-be on an episode of The Golden Bachelorette and was immediately hooked on her personality. Neil told the outlet that he was not going to cluster the ring with too many diamonds and “wanted to make a ring that was really classic,” adding that he took incentive from the 1920s Art Deco period.

Lane revealed that Chapple, 60, was hooked on to the ring as soon as he saw it and described the moment as “kismet,” adding, “I think he understood the vibrations and the energy that went into that ring.”

The jewelry designer wished the couple a happy life moving forward saying, “This ring’s show-stopping beauty perfectly encapsulates Joan’s journey as the first-ever Golden Bachelorette and I wish her and Chock nothing but the best as they move into the next phase of their relationship together.”

After the finale, Joan, who is from Maryland, and Chock, who is from Kansas, don’t want to leave their homes yet but said they will relocate to New York City and purchase an apartment there to spend time alone.

Before heading into the finale this season, Vassos had narrowed the contestants down to 2, Chock and another contestant named Guy Gansert, 66. Even though it was hard for her to choose her forever person, she picked Chock in the end declaring her love for him, and left Guy’s heart in shambles.

As for the ‘golden’ couple who rode into the sunset together, they spoke to People Magazine in a joint interview recently where Vassos said she has found Chapple to be “a really easy person to live with” and “very easygoing.” Chock too had a similar notion about his wife saying that she is a “fixer” like he is and that “we’re handling life just beautifully as we go through.”
