Good Omens Season 2 Official Release Date
Created and written by Neil Gaiman based on his and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel of the same name, it was first conceived and marketed as a limited series, but it was eventually renewed for a second series back in June 2021. After months of speculation, it has been finally confirmed that the much-awaited second season is all set to make its return exclusively on Prime Video for its summer streaming season on Friday, July 28, 2023.
The premiere date of the second season was revealed on the 33rd anniversary of the publishing of the original novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Gaiman, which was the basis for the first season of the television series.
The official date announcement was also confirmed by the official Twitter handle of Prime Video with a brand new poster featuring the beloved cast members Michael Sheen and David Tennant together, quoting, “And on the 10th of May, we were given a date for season 2, and it is ineffably good. Good Omens Season 2 Plot
The official synopsis of the second season states, “Good Omens explores storylines that go beyond the original source material to illuminate the uncanny friendship between Aziraphale, a fussy angel, and rare book dealer, and the fast-living demon Crowley. Having been on Earth since The Beginning, and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley are getting back to easy living amongst mortals in London’s Soho when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery.”

As, various plotlines from the first season are also speculated to be picked up for the new season which followed, “The End of the World is coming, which means a fussy Angel and a loose-living Demon who’ve become overly fond of life on Earth are forced to form an unlikely alliance to stop Armageddon. But they have lost the Antichrist, an 11-year-old boy unaware he’s meant to bring upon the end of days, forcing them to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before it’s too late.”
The first season received positive reviews, and it has an approval rating of 84% based on 100 reviews, with an audience score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Good Omens Season 2 Cast and Crew
The main cast members who will return for the second season are Michael Sheen and David Tennant as angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, respectively. Also reprising their roles are Jon Hamm as archangel Gabriel, Doon Mackichan as archangel Michael, and Gloria Obianyo as archangel Uriel. Returning this season in new roles are Miranda Richardson as demon Shax, Maggie Service as Maggie, and Nina Sosanya as Nina, with new faces joining the misfits in Heaven and Hell: Liz Carr as angel Saraqael, Quelin Sepulveda as angel Muriel, and Shelley Conn as demon Beelzebub.
Moreover, Neil Gaiman will continue as executive producer and co-showrunner, along with executive producer Douglas Mackinnon, who also returned to direct all six episodes. Rob Wilkins of Narrativia, representing Terry Pratchett’s estate, John Finnemore, and BBC Studios Productions’ head of comedy Josh Cole also executive produce, with Finnemore serving as co-writer alongside Gaiman. Good Omens is based on the internationally best-selling novel by Pratchett and Gaiman, and the new season is produced by Amazon Studios, BBC Studios Productions, The Blank Corporation, and Narrativia.
Good Omens Season 2 Episodes and Streaming Options
The second season will have a total of six episodes with an average runtime of 51 to 58 minutes, which will be available to binge-watch at once instead of weekly episodes on Prime Video. The network hasn’t released the official episode title and summaries of the second season, so the fans will have to wait some time to get more updates, which will be disclosed once the release date draws near. Episode 1: In the Beginning: In the beginning 11 years ago, two immortal beings decide that it might not be the right time to start an apocalypse.
Episode 2: The Book: Having followed the wrong boy for years, Aziraphale and Crowley must try to find the location of the real Antichrist; perhaps the story of Agnes Nutter and her famous prophecies will hold the answer.
Episode 3: Hard Times: Following Aziraphale and Crowley’s friendship across the ages; in the present day, Agnes Nutter’s descendant Anathema arrives in Tadfield on her own mission to save the world.
Episode 4: Saturday Morning Funtime: Aziraphale and Crowley’s friendship is tested to the limit as their superiors catch up with them; Armageddon starts in earnest, as the Antichrist’s powers wreak havoc across the globe.
Episode 5: The Doomsday Option: Aziraphale and Crowley race toward Tadfield airbase as they attempt to prevent Adam and the Four Horsemen from starting the apocalypse; one has been discorporated and the other is trapped in a flaming motorway.
Episode 6: The Very Last Day of the Rest of Their Lives: Adam, Crowley, and Aziraphale must work together to fight the powers of heaven and hell and prevent the apocalypse; they find out the fate that awaits them if they do.

The network hasn’t released any new teasers or trailers for the second season, as there is still a lot of time left for the official promotion to begin. But for confirming the official release date, a special celebration for fans was held, where Gaiman collaborated with superfans Hilly and Hannah Hindi of The Hillywood Show to reveal the date in a fan-funded video, “Good Omens Parody.”
Take a look at the official clip, which depicts The Nice and Accurate Parody of Good Omens by The Hillywood Show, which features fan favourite moments, screen-accurate costumes and sets, and surprise cameos (NEIL GAIMAN, DANIEL MAYS, MAGGIE SERVICE and even the screen-used Bentley from S1). This parody is also based on the best-selling novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.
