It’s the end of an era for the ‘Good Trouble’ fandom.
The spin-off of the Freeform show The Fosters, which follows Callie Adams Foster (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana Adams Foster (Cierra Ramirez) as they embark on the next phase of their young adult lives working in Los Angeles, is ready to bid farewell after being on the platform since its inception back in 2019. Even though there is a lot of hype surrounding the premiere of the much-awaited Season 5 Part 2 next year on January 2, 2024, the beloved drama has been canceled after five seasons.
Yes, you read it right. Despite the show being a major success, the series run has been cut short, and it will now officially conclude with the series final episode, “It’s My Party, I Can Die if I Want To,” which is all set to premiere next year on January 30, 2024. The fortunate news is that the series got a chance to record extra scenes for a better conclusion, which allowed the creators to maintain the integrity and quality of the show, which fans loved and appreciated.

Cierra Ramirez, series star and executive producer who will make her directorial debut in an upcoming episode, recently took to Instagram to address the cancellation, quote:
“So many emotions right now after hearing that our beloved show, Good Trouble, has come to an end. The greatest one of all, being gratitude. Both Good Trouble & The Fosters have shaped me into the person I am today. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to play a character on a show for 10+ years that has helped get important conversations started, pushed for transformative change in the world, & has inspired people to be themselves & find a place of comfort. Thank you to everyone at Freeform & Hulu for giving us a platform to do that for all these years.”
She continued to thank Joanna Johnson, Chris Sacani, Peter Paige, Bradley Bredeweg, and Gregg Gugliotta, quote:
“I wouldn’t even know where to begin on how thankful I am…but I am forever indebted to you. Thank you for your beautiful & talented minds, your friendship, your guidance, your trust & most of all for believing in me & choosing me to be your Mariana. I love you for life. To my brilliant cast. The amount of talent that lives within each & everyone of you is incredible. & you’re all so kind & beautiful on top of it?! like??? It almost too good to be true….but it isn’t. It is true. Each one of you has the BEST heart, & it shows through your gifts. To work alongside you every day was an absolute dream. I miss you so much already, but I can’t wait to be your cheerleader as we see the great things this world has in store for you. Coterie forever!”
Further adding, “To the absolute gifts that are our writers, thank you for pouring literal blood, sweat & tears into our show. You always always alwayssss kept me on my toes, kept me hooked on every line, & made me fall in love with every character.” She states, “To my crew, the TRUE stars of this series. I can’t thank you enough for how much you gave every single day, day in & day out. We’ve been through pandemics, strikes, fires, group scenes with dialogue that could honestly be in the Guinness World Records (or at least felt like it lol). We’ve spent hours together-sometimes more than our own family at times…& through it > all you’ve shown up with the best attitude & drive.”
“It’s both inspiring & contagious, so thank you for that. I feel SO lucky to have been able to witness your talents, both in front & behind the camera. Your support as I stepped into new shoes as a first time director is something I will never ever forget. You are my family. Thank you. To my Mariana Adams Foster. Oh, Miss Thang, have you a been a piece of work since the moment I first read that name…but you’re my favorite piece of work.”
She recounts, “You’ve helped pave a way for girls who look like me on tv, gave people a sense of belonging, & proved that everyone is worthy of taking up space in rooms that aren’t always accepting. I will always be thankful for that. I can’t tell if there’s a part of me in you, or if you ARE me at this point, but nonetheless I will alwaysssss carry your sass, resilience & willingness to give to others. Oh, & you best believe I’ll never let someone tell me I can’t do something I’ve set my mind to;)”
She concludes, “Last but certainly not least, our fans. Oh my goodness, where to begin?!? Thank you for opening up your homes to us. One of my most favorite things about this experience is getting to meet so many beautiful people who related to this show, or saw themselves in it. It made it ALL the more worth it. This has been one of the biggest joys of my life, & I owe it ALL to you, your love, dedication & time that you’ve given us. Thanks for letting me grow up with you, my forever family What an era. The final part of our series, Good Trouble, airs January 2nd on Freeform, next day on Hulu. Hope to see you there!”
