How many new characters are being introduced in Grey’s Anatomy Season 19? Continue reading to find out.
Grey’s Anatomy comes from Rhimes’ Shondaland production banner. The show is produced by ABC Signature. The series renewal for Grey’s Anatomy’s Season 19 was officially announced by ABC on January 10, 2022. Since then, there have been no major updates on the upcoming season, which the fans are anxiously awaiting. Viewers are eagerly anticipating how the plot and character arcs will be handled and further developed in the highly acclaimed television series in the months leading up to any new details about the next season.
However, fans have observed that the Grey’s Anatomy cast has been the subject of much attention. As in the last 2 to 3 weeks, it is being reported, and it is now apparent that many new cast members are being introduced in Grey’s Anatomy Season 19. We’ve compiled all of their names and the details of these actors and character descriptions which are listed below:
Alexis Floyd
For the forthcoming 19th season of the immensely popular ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, the breakout star from Inventing Anna Alexis Floyd will join as a series regular. Simone Griffin, a new first-year surgical resident at Grey Sloan, will be portrayed by Floyd. A high achiever who is witty, quick-witted, and has a complex family structure. She was born and raised in Seattle, but she has never desired to work at Grey Sloan due to a traumatic personal experience with the institution.
According to Deadline, “Grey’s Anatomy, like all of Shonda’s canon, is a genre re-defining show that remains masterfully committed to diversity, relevancy, and vulnerability,” Floyd said. “Joining the cast in its 19th season is an immeasurable honor, and quite simply, it’s gonna be wicked fun.”
Niko Terho
Niko Terho, star of The Thing About Harry, has been chosen to appear in Grey’s Anatomy’s venerable 19th season on ABC. He joins recently cast Alexis Floyd as the second newcomer for the upcoming season. Terho will portray a first-year surgical resident at Grey Sloan, similar to Floyd. Lucas Adams of Terho is his family’s endearing black sheep. He is likable to the extreme, yet his grades don’t reflect his superior intelligence.
Like many of his ancestors who came before him, he is keen to establish himself as a surgeon, but he will need to put in the effort and stop depending on his people skills. Terho’s breakthrough role has a Grey’s Anatomy link, just like Floyd, who starred in the popular Netflix limited series Inventing Anna, which was created and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, creator and executive producer of Grey’s Anatomy.
Midori Francis
Midori Francis, who starred in The Sex Lives of College Girls, has been chosen to play a new medical resident in the forthcoming 19th season of ABC’s popular medical program Grey’s Anatomy. She joins Niko Terho and Alexis Floyd, who were just cast, as the third newcomer for the upcoming season. In the Season 18 finale, Grey Sloan was instructed to dissolve and completely rebuild its teaching department. All three actors portray first-year surgical residents there.
Francis portrays Alicia, the director of the Essex College Women’s Center, in HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls. She had a one-year series regular contract, and it was always the intention for the character to return as a recurring character in the impending second season of the show.
Adelaide Kane
The 19th season has cast Adelaide Kane (SEAL Team) as a new resident in the series. She joins the new cast members Alexis Floyd, Niko Terho, and Midori Francis as the season’s fourth newcomer. In the Season 18 finale, Grey Sloan received the order to dissolve and restructure its teaching department. All four will play first-year surgical residents there.
Adelaide Kane, whose notable filmography includes The Purge, just finished shooting the independent film Songs Of Revenge for filmmaker Mathieu Bonzon. She will next be seen in the independent film Cosmic Sin, alongside Bruce Willis.
Harry Shum Jr.
The final new cast member for the upcoming 19th season of ABC’s iconic medical series Grey’s Anatomy is Harry Shum Jr. In the Season 18 finale, Grey Sloan received the order to dissolve and restructure its teaching department. He will be one of the five members who will play first-year surgical residents there.
As per reports, Daniel “Blue” Kwan is intelligent and quick-witted. He is naturally kind yet fiercely competitive, brilliant, and accustomed to dominating everything. His career plans were hampered by a family emergency, and he now has a lot to prove. It is Daniel’s past, which would account for why he’s a little older than the average medical resident, is alluded to in the character profiles.

Will Grey’s Anatomy season 19 be the show’s last season?
Following Pompeo’s statements about her wish to terminate the series in December 2021, it has been widely assumed that Grey’s Anatomy’s upcoming season may be the program’s final one. “I’ve been trying to focus on convincing everybody that it should end,” she said during an interview with Insider. “I feel like I’m the super naive one who keeps saying, ‘But what’s the story going to be, what story are we going to tell?’
In an interview with People, Kevin McKidd previously discussed the show’s possible end with PEOPLE at Grey’s Anatomy 400th Episode Celebration in Hollywood. “I don’t know how this show ends at this point,” he said. “We all thought this season was going to be the end. I felt we were all building towards it, this season. But the audience just seems to want more still.”
He added, “The thing is with a medical show … most TV shows struggle because their narrative or the construct of how they’re telling stories, it starts to become convoluted to keep it going,” he explained. “With medical shows, there’s an endless amount of stories because there’s new people coming into hospitals every single day. So that’s why it’s hard to really see what the end can be. All I can tell you is it’s bigger than all of us at this point.”
