Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus will return with more tales from the bustling lanes of the Diamond Bazaar!
The overwhelming fan love shown by the global viewers for the first season of “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” has successfully led to the Indian period drama being renewed for Season 2. Since its release, the series has not only ruled the streaming charts in India but has also crossed boundaries and gained huge viewership by swiftly climbing Netflix’s Top 10 TV (Non-English) list in 43 countries.
After the series became one of the most-viewed Indian series globally, the streamer was left with little choice but to explore the dazzling world created by Padma Shri honoree Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who can’t wait to be back on the sets for the second season.
To add the cherry on top, Bhansali, 61, has already given a little glimpse into the plot of the next season:
“In ‘Heeramandi 2,’ the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the partition and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that’s the second season we are planning, let’s see where it goes.”
