The viewers have been anticipating to know if there will be another season or not, as the demand for the series can be evaluated by the reviews and the popularity of the show all over social media, which has built up curiosity among viewers more than ever! The review aggregator website on Rotten Tomatoes reports an 83% approval rating with an average rating of 6.9/10 based on 17 critic reviews. The website’s critical consensus reads, “If Marvel’s Hit-Monkey is never as thrillingly original as its title might suggest, vibrant animation and a solid voice cast keep things consistently watchable.”
Moreover, Metacritic which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 57 out of 100 based on six critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews.” These reviews are outstanding and favorable enough to get an early renewal alone, which explains why the network was quick to greenlight it for another season and continue the story. If you’re one of those who want to get clarification about the renewal status, among other details, then look no further. To find all of your answers, keep reading until the very end. Here is everything we know so far about Hit-Monkey Season 2.
Hit-Monkey Season 2 Renewal Status
Attention readers! The good news has arrived early for the fans as “Hit-Monkey,” which is created by Will Speck and Josh Gordon for the streaming service Hulu, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, has been renewed for another season! The renewal comes over a year after the show originally debuted back in November 2021. The show is based on a Japanese snow monkey who, aided by the ghost of an American assassin, goes on a revenge quest through the Tokyo underworld and becomes the famous “killer of killers.”
The prospective premiere date for the upcoming season is way too early for the network to announce. But, if we had to guess, we’d say Hit-Monkey Season 2 will be released sometime between late 2023 and early 2024, with November being the most likely month. It is anticipated to air at the same time slot of 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET exclusively on Hulu, with new episodes dropping on the same day. Of course, this is just speculation! Hence, any statement about the show’s official release date is still pending verification by the network.
So, it is just assumed that the next season might follow the same pattern and be released in a similar time frame if the network decides to go with the planned schedule. In the meantime, we suggest that the viewers be patient and follow all the social media platforms for the series to be updated with the latest information for the upcoming season. In addition to this, the official Twitter handle of the network also confirmed the news among its followers, quoting, “More hits. More monkey. Season 2 of Hit-Monkey is coming soon!” Take a look at the announcement below:

Hit-Monkey Season 2: What to expect in the new season?
The new season will follow Hit-Monkey and Bryce as they travel from Japan to New York City. Fred Tatasciore voices Hit-Monkey. The rest of the returning voice cast includes Olivia Munn who will voice Akiko, the smart and ambitious niece of the future prime minister, while Jason Sudeikis will be back as Bryce, a world-weary assassin who has made poor life choices. Also returning to the series is Fred Tatasciore as Hit-Monkey – described as the killer of killers – and Ally Maki as Haruka, an honest cop from a small town. Leslie Jones joined the cast this season but Hulu has yet to reveal her character.
Speck and Gordon are the directing team behind Blades of Glory, The Switch, and Office Christmas Party. Hit-Monkey is produced by 20th Television Animation, which is also behind Solar Opposites, Futurama, and Koala Man for Hulu. The studio is also producing a new animated comedy for Hulu called Standing By, a satirical look into the lives of a group of eternally bound, irritated guardian angels and the lessons they’ll eventually learn from not only the dysfunctional humans they’re in charge of protecting but also one another. It’s from Dan Levy and Ally Pankiw.
The first season consisted of 10 episodes, so the forthcoming season is also speculated to have a similar episode count with an average runtime of 22 to 27 minutes, which is expected to drop on the same day. It is speculated that it is intended to follow the same framework as the prior episodes to be consistent. On the other hand, we’d also like to point out that, as of February 4, 2023, the exact titles and synopsis for the episodes cannot be confirmed. So, we request that viewers be patient and stream the first season, which has the following episodes:
Episode 1: Pilot: After a high-profile political assassination goes sideways, an injured hitman hides out amongst a tribe of snow monkeys in the mountains of Japan.
Episode 2: Bright Lights, Big City: Monkey and Bryce arrive in Tokyo seeking revenge, but their different styles clash.
Episode 3: Legend of the Drunken Monkey: Monkey and Bryce investigate the evil General Kato; the trail leads to an underground casino, where Monkey embraces the vices of the human world while struggling to continue his mission.
Episode 4: The Code: Monkey and Bryce break into a prison to hunt a mysterious villain known as The Accountant, and Monkey squares off against the prison’s most dangerous inmate.
Episode 5: Run Monkey Run: After the Yakuza puts a price on Monkey’s head, he and Bryce must face off against a who’s who of the city’s most colorful assassins, and their greatest foe of all: Bryce’s ego.
Episode 6: The Long Goodbye: Monkey and Bryce’s powerful target releases an army of doubles to throw them off his scent; Bryce tries to make peace with his past.
Episode 7: Sayonara Monkey: After battling their toughest foe yet, Money and Bryce’s partnership comes apart at the seams.
Episode 8: Home Sweet Home: Ditching Bryce, Monkey returns to his old hot-springs and attempts to join a new tribe; Bryce is forced to relive the events that thrust him down the path of assassinhood.
Episode 9: The End – Part One: A reunited Monkey and Bryce get some much-needed help from a pair of unexpected friends; they head to their final target and discover a startling truth.
Episode 10: The End – Part Two: As Monkey and Bryce near the end of their journey, they struggle against obstacles of their own making.

Check out the trailer for the first season, which showcases, “In season one, Monkey’s peaceful existence in the Japanese alps is shattered by the tragic loss of his tribe-setting him on a course of revenge and violence in the very world of humans that are responsible for his plight. He’s a killer of killers with a bit of a rage problem.
Throughout the series, he must learn to navigate the struggle between his inherently sweet nature and the evil acts he must commit. It’s through his complicated friendship with the Ghost of Bryce (a former assassin and now, Monkey’s unwanted conscience), that will determine whether Monkey will be consumed by his rage or channel it for good. This is the story of Hit-Monkey.”
