Hot Skull is a sci-fi drama series that is set in a dystopian world. It depicted a mysterious epidemic that is spreading through verbal communication and examines what happens when a tyrannical institution pursues a linguist immune to the disease.
Created by Mert Baykal and starring Osman Sonant, Sevket Çoruh, Hazal Subasi, Kubilay Tunçer, and Arda Aranat, the series debuted on Netflix on December 2, 2022.

Why is Hot Skull canceled at Netflix?
There can be numerous reasons behind a show not being renewed but here’s what we have heard.
Hot Skull had featured in the global top 10 hourly figures on Netflix for only one week. The show picked up 10.91 million hours of viewership between December 4th and 11th, 2023.
According to FlixPatrol, the show had featured in the list of top 10 shows in 17 countries, but in most of them, it had only appeared for a few days. Having said that, in Turkey, the show had got a place in the top 10s for 67 days and is still in the top 10 category at the time of writing, but unfortunately, its performance didn’t do well enough to call for a renewal of more seasons.
Actor Şevket Çoruh who played Anton Kadir Tarakçi in Hot Skull was the first to break the news about the series being canceled. In a Tweet, he stated (translated via Google Translate), “It was a very awkward separation. If I had known, I would not have formed such a close friendship. Our friendship was short lived. Take care Anton.”
When asked if that meant that Hot Skull had been canceled, he responded with (translated from Google Translate) “Yes”.

Gazete Duvar, a general Turkish news site, then reported this news of the series not getting a renewal, on February 3, 2023. In an update, the news site stated that Netflix did not comment on their story.
How many episodes are there in Hot Skull?
Though the series won’t return with another season you can still rewatch the series which is available on Netflix. As for the number of episodes, Hot Skull season 1 consists of eight episodes in total. Each one is approximately an hour long, with at least one episode running for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
In conclusion, you don’t have to be disappointed about Hot Skull not returning for a second season at Netflix, because the streaming giant is already working on a huge slate of Turkish Originals with upcoming shows that include The Tailor, WWWRF, The Creature, and more.
