Ready to jump ship into intergalactic space jumps in the Mandoverse?
Is the new Disney+ Star Wars series going to make a comeback with Season 2 tonight?
Keep reading to find out!
Brimming with inter-multiverse references to the original titular series Star Wars, with a second reigning reference to the celebrated animated series Rebels, several action sequences, moral-bending plotlines, and space whale galaxy inter-jumping will Ahsoka Season 2 reach our screens tonight?
Ripping off the band-aid, we can affirm that Ahsoka Season 2 is not new tonight. In fact, there is a bleak possibility that the second installment will reach us anytime soon. Why? There are two speculations to this statement. One, the final episode of Season 1 reached our screens on October 3, making it impossible to expect the next season within the same month. The second and most imperative hindrance to its screening tonight is driven by the fact that Disney+ has not yet announced its renewal. There is little reason to think we won’t witness a Season 2 after the groundbreaking reception that Season 1 garnered. So, is there a possibility for Disney+ to renew the titular action series?
Ahsoka Season 2 Renewal: Is There A Possibility?
Evidence-based research gathered over the past few days since the release of the first Season of Ahsoka strongly suggests that the Force is with the Star Wars spinoff and is stationing itself to invite a renewal from the streamer giant soon. There are two major yardsticks through which a resurrection of a season is determined. One is the immediate reception of the viewers, and two, the unwavering comments below social media posts of the series bombarded by the viewers pleading for a second season to quench the mind-numbing cliffhangers the previous seasons leave you in. Did Ahsoka fulfill the conditions of these two yardsticks?
It seems so. Within the first week of its launch, Ahsoka Season 1 garnered 14 million views in the first five days since its inception, thereby positioning itself as the most-watched Disney+ title during launch week. Another reason behind this unbridled record-breaking fresher season is the massive fanbase that it has deported from the Star Wars fandom. Ahsoka, being a Star Wars spinoff, and a sequel to Rebel, makes it a cultural juggernaut series of the Star Wars multiverse.
Moreover, the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reports that 87% of 248 critics gave the series a positive review, with an average rating of 7.4/10. The website’s critical consensus reads, “Elevated by Rosario Dawson’s strong performance in the title role and a solid story that balances new and old elements of the Star Wars saga, Ahsoka is a must-watch for fans of the franchise.” On Metacritic, the series holds a weighted average score of 68 out of 100, based on 25 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews.”
Recently, Rosario Dawson has expressed quite a bit of interest in keeping the story going. “I’m ready. I’m excited. I’m willing,” she told Empire. “I got my ice packs ready to go for Season 2 and beyond! I would not be mad at that.”
The Hollywood Reporter also stated that Disney was monitoring numbers for a potential Season 2 of Ahsoka that “would depend on the performance of the first season.” Dawson also commented on the importance of fans watching in an EW cover story that ran before the Season 1 premiere: “I really, really hope the fans love it,” she said. “That means A) we get to do more and B) we’ve honored the legacy of this character and this journey, and I know that’s what we intended to do.” Judging by the affirmativeness of these statements, our favorite Mandalorverse is not far far away as intended.
As strongly suggested through several accounts, if and when Disney+ grants the series another season, when can we expect it on our screens?
Ahsoka Season 2 Arrival Date: Best Case Scenario
October 3rd marked the arrival of the final episode of Season 1 of Ahsoka, and with the galactic-shattering response it generated through ardent viewers, predictions for a renewal of Season 2 are not far away. In case we house a renewal by the month of November 2023, when is it probable for Ahsoka Season 2 to arrive on Disney+?
A Season 2 renewal might invoke an immediate assembly of the writer’s room, given that the area is clear for deployment since the WGA strikes ended on 27th September and several productions went back to work. The lack of a friction point between initiating and finishing scripts leads to a further possibility of the production process to begin by mid-2024. While we fathom that the SAG AFTRA strike is still on as the actors’ guild is under attempts to reach favorable negotiations with the AMPTP, it may not be far-stretched to believe that the strike will reach an impasse by mid-2024 right in time for the completed scripts to be filmed.
Thereafter, judging by the timeline, the production process might take up to 15-18 months, given the complex action sequences followed by a VFX-intense post-production process. Our predictions rest on a mid-2025 release for Season 2 of Ahsoka.

However, it is imperative to note that we cannot set this prediction in stone until a second season has been confirmed by the streamer giant and until the SAG-AFTRA strike reaches an agreement allowing the actors to film sequences.
In case the show creators decide not to move forward with a second season, fans can be relieved as Ahsoka Tano will certainly make appearances in future Star Wars shows or movies that are in development. This was confirmed earlier this year because Dave Filoni will helm a movie that aims to tie together his portions of the Star Wars universe—primarily Din Djarin/The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano, and Grand Admiral Thrawn—into one significant crossover feature, which will be quite exciting for the fans to see!

If and when the series has been renewed, a lot of the characters from season 1 will return, and so will some of the live-action Rebel characters, in attempts to fill the gap between the animated series plot and the the era in the trilogy.
One person will unfortunately not return, and that is Ray Stevenson as fallen Jedi Baylan Skoll. Sadly, the talented actor passed away unexpectedly in May 2023, aged only 58. The first episode of Ahsoka was dedicated to him.
