Did you know that BLACKPINK’s contract with YG entertainment is going to end in August this year? Now, the biggest question is whether the group will be renewing its contract with the agency. On January 19, 2022, NH Investment & Securities reportedly predicted BLACKPINK will renew its contract with the label.

The contract renewal

What looks like a counter media report by Munhwa Ilbo on January 23, 2022, it won’t be so easy for YG Entertainment to renew the contract as the K-pop group members are offered much higher guarantees elsewhere. According to one of the insiders, BLACKPINK’s Lisa is being offered 100 billion KRW to switch labels! Other insiders still believe YG Entertainment would have to offer at around 20 billion KRW per member for the new contract. According to a few reports, YG Entertainment is launching Baby Monster to mitigate the potential failure of closing the deal with BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK at Coachella

The BLACKPINK members are all set to take on the Coachella stage once again! According to Hits Daily Double, the K-pop girl group will be one of the headlining acts for Coachella 2023. Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean will be among the others who will headline the much-awaited event. For the unversed, BLACKPINK is going to make history as the first ever K-Pop artist headlining act of Coachella. Back in 2019, the members already made history after becoming the first K-pop group to perform at the music festival.

Coachella 2023 is all set to take place from April 14, 2022, to April 23, 2022, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Earlier records

On January 4, 2022, BLACKPINK’s music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” officially exceeded 2 billion views on YouTube, much to the excitement of the BLINKs. This makes them the first-ever K-Pop group have accomplished the feat. BLACKPINK has also become the first K-Pop group with the most views on a single music video on the popular platform.
