So, it’s time to buckle up for another mind-bending mystery ride with CSI: Vegas Season 3.
CSI: Vegas Season 3 Release Date: When is the series expected to return on CBS?
If you recall, on February 21, 2023, CBS officially renewed CSI: Vegas for a third season, which isn’t surprising as the series has been able to gather some amazing reception and viewership from fans around the world, which led to an easy approval, and it was confirmed to be a part of the 2023–24 fall primetime schedule. But sadly, this update was short-lived as the ongoing 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, which started a few weeks ago, has started to cause some disruption in the previously confirmed schedule for the CBS network.
The strike has caused many production houses to temporarily halt their work, with reports circulating that the writing for the upcoming season has not started, which is quite unfortunate when we consider the fact that filming usually begins by the summer season if the network is aiming for its fall release later this year. Hence, right now, it looks like the eagerly awaited third season of CSI: Vegas will not be available on CBS to stream anytime soon in the fall season or later this year, making the fandom wait for longer than they anticipated!
We would also like to highlight that another reason that could have contributed to the delay in the season’s release is a possible actor’s strike! As tense negotiations between the Hollywood actors’ union and the major studios, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), are happening, the guild announced that the contract will now expire on July 12 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. “The parties will continue to negotiate under a mutually agreed-upon media blackout,” the actors union and the studios and networks group said in a joint statement.
Due to this, everything can change in a matter of a few days as the writers and actors can stand together and join hands in the strike, causing major hurdles for the network to postpone many series, including CSI: Vegas Season 3, despite it being slated to premiere in the fall of this year, which will be quite unfortunate. So, if we look at the current status, one thing is noted that the network might consider not releasing the show in 2023 and eventually modify and set the release window for some time early to mid-2024, with new episodes dropping every Sunday at 10 p.m. slot time.
A newly revised schedule can be released in the coming months, as George Cheeks, President and CEO of CBS and Chief Content Officer, also hinted at the same during a keynote at Banff moderated by Deadline’s Peter White: “We wanted to build our schedule for when the world goes back to normal.” Further adding, “Once we had done that, once we locked it in, we spent a lot of time focusing on what it was going to look like.” He elaborated that a revised CBS fall scheduling plan is expected to be revealed soon. “First of all, obviously, it’s going to be very reality-heavy,” he added.
In conclusion, it’s not far-fetched to assume that the majority of the content from the CBS fall schedule can be shifted as production is assumed to resume later this year, which makes the chances of the show’s return this year seem very minimal. Until there is any confirmation, we have listed down all the details that have so far been made public, as it provides a fairly good insight into what the fans can expect from the third season until there is an official statement issued.
As a result, we ask fans to keep an eye on social media for more information, which will ultimately be acknowledged later. Until then, we’ll just have to wait and see what direction the writers and crew will take going forward! In the meantime, check out the official announcement as shared by the show’s Twitter handle confirming the renewal of the series, quoting, “Vegas hasn’t seen the last of me yet. #CSIVegas #SeasonThree”

CSI: Vegas Season 3 Plot: What to expect?
Not much has been revealed in order to avoid spoilers, but we are certain that the theme will remain consistent in order to convey the story, which follows: “Amidst the neon lights and long shadows, dark threats continue to lurk in Sin City. Maxine Roby leads her brilliant team of Crime Scene Investigators as they use science to solve baffling cases. This combined force will deploy the latest forensic techniques to do what they do best – follow the evidence – in order to preserve and serve justice in Sin City.”
On the other hand, we can assure readers that the third season without any doubt, is expected to continue from the second season’s finale episode, “Dying Words,” which ended on a massive cliffhanger and showcased Folsom spiraling into an emotional frenzy when his mother is found murdered inside a warehouse. After reuniting with Trey, they both set out to hunt for the killer. Later, we learn that the episode ends when the main suspect is then found dead in a dumpster. Josh surrenders and is arrested.
CSI: Vegas Season 3 Cast: Who will reprise their roles?
There can be some new characters introduced in the next season, but for the time being, we are certain that the main cast members from the second season are all set to reprise their roles in the new season, which are as follows: Paula Newsome as Maxine “Max” Roby, Matt Lauria as Joshua “Josh” Folsom, Mandeep Dhillon as Ahalya “Allie” Rajan, Ariana Guerra as Serena Chavez, Jay Lee as Christopher “Chris” Park, Lex Medlin as Beau Finado, and Marg Helgenberger as Catherine Willows.
Moreover, there are many recurring cast members who are also anticipated to join the principal cast. Lastly, the series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television. Jason Tracey, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Kristie Anne Reed, Anthony Zuiker, Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, Craig O’Neill, William Petersen, Cindy Chvatal, Steven H. Kram, and Steven H. CSI: Vegas Season 3 Episodes: Where to stream?
We can assure the readers that the official episode count of the new season hasn’t been revealed by the network. But if we follow the pattern of the last two seasons, then the show is very likely to consist of at least 10 to 21 episodes with an average runtime of 41 to 44 minutes, which are expected to drop on a weekly basis. This count can be reduced due to the writer’s strike only if it isn’t resolved soon, which will eventually force the creators to shorten the season to 15 to 18 episodes only if the filming gets delayed in the coming weeks.
When CSI: Vegas Season 3 premieres, it will most likely be available on all prior platforms that have the rights to stream the series, as well as on-air on the CBS website and app. Moreover, the series is currently available to stream on Apple TV, Paramount+, and FuboTV. The series is also available to rent or buy on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, and Vudu, depending on the viewer’s location, with preferred membership plans that the users can choose from.

CSI: Vegas Season 3 Official Trailer: Is there any promo available?
As mentioned above, the new episodes have not yet been filmed due to incomplete scripts and the network holding up production for a while due to the ongoing writers’ strike. As a result, the network hasn’t published any new official trailers or teasers for the new season. Moreover, it takes time for such promotional stuff to be published, which usually begins a month or two before the premiere of the new episodes.
So, it is impossible for the network to create and promote a teaser with new clips from the upcoming season to reveal some plotlines. Hence, we urge the readers to wait and be patient for some time and check out the previous season’s plotlines to remember what’s happened so far if you haven’t watched the show yet.
