Kara Killmer will be leaving Chicago Fire in Season 12, as confirmed by People.

The 35-year-old actress plays paramedic Sylvie Brett on the NBC procedural drama and joined the series in 2014 during season 3 and has appeared in more than 190 episodes. People reported that the details of her departure, as well as the date, have been kept under wraps until now. The viewers speculate that since the final scene of Season 11 showed her love interest Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) dropping to a knee and proposing, it will be a logical derivation that she will be moving towards the west from Chicago.

However, for Chicago fans, there may be a sliver of hope to fill the void that Killmer’s departure will create. Incidentally, People reported that Taylor Kinney will return in season 12 following a hiatus from the hit NBC procedural that he took earlier in the year. After several questions propped up on the sudden departure of Kinney from the show, an insider member of the production team confirmed to People in January that Kinney has taken the said sabbatical to “deal with a personal matter.”

Severide’s sudden disappearance from the show was explained in an episode from Season 11 of the show as having to do with a last-minute opportunity for Severide to attend “the best arson investigation training program in the world.” However, his consistent absence from the show thereafter caused concern among the fandom.
