If it wouldn’t have been for the strikes, we would be watching the 21st run of this American procedural drama by now on our screens. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and the fans are still anticipating the latest installment of NCIS to arrive on our screens, anticipating to know who died when the echo of a loud gunshot aired in the background of the previous season.
The fact that the last episode of the latest season of our favorite crime drama had to end on such a mysterious note is emotionally tormenting.
Exacerbating this torment is the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have delayed the production schedules of all shows and movies indefinitely. As a result of which, the release dates of these shows are postponed.
That being said, if you’re wondering whether NCIS Season 21 is new tonight, then here’s what we know so far.
Is NCIS Season 21 new tonight on CBS?
Unfortunately, no. At the time of writing this article, the 21st season of the crime procedural drama does not have any release date. In fact, we don’t presume it to premiere any time soon. As mentioned previously, the strikes have postponed the production schedules until further notice. Hence, they won’t begin until the strikes are over.
Considering that the strikes have been going on for almost five months now, we don’t expect them to end soon. This cancels out the possibility of NCIS season 21 premiering in 2023 at all, or even 2024 for that matter.
Be that as it may, there is one tiny ray of hope that will not let your anticipation turn frustrating. CBS has decided to air reruns of NCIS in its normal time slot on Mondays, according to Hidden Remote.
The schedule of the reruns will begin on September 25, airing the pilot episode of the series from 2003, titled “Yankee White.” The pilot will be aired at 8/7c. In addition to the first episode, CBS will also air the 22nd episode of season 2, called “SWAK”, featuring how the team investigated the bubonic plague, which led to the death of one of their colleagues.
The third rerun will be from season 19: Episode 3, titled “All Hands.” The episode is modeled around the team’s struggle for survival on a boat headed by terrorists. Despite us not being able to watch the new episodes of NCIS, these three episodes indeed serve as a delight for us.
