To curb all your worries, we have listed everything we know so far about Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy Season 4.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Potential Release Date: When will the series premiere on Netflix?
As of writing this, we can confirm to the readers that the potential release date for the fourth season hasn’t been disclosed, as the production of the last season was confirmed to begin filming on February 6, 2023, and it wrapped production in May 2023. Filming for season four was finished before the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike occurred. Since then, the season has been officially in post-production, and it’s likely to remain in this stage for quite a long time. So, if we follow this schedule, then the potential release date announcement isn’t going to be revealed anytime soon.
But if we have to predict, then The Umbrella Academy Season 4 can premiere sometime in the early to mid-months of 2024, just like the prior three seasons, at the same time slot of 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET) on Netflix. With this update, it looks like things are moving rather swiftly, and its official comeback with respect to post-production is not being delayed any further, as the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have already caused a major halt to various production houses.
Moreover, showrunner Steve Blackman spoke about the renewal, quoting, “I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago. But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.” Take a look at the renewal announcement on The Umbrella Academy’s Twitter handle below, quote, “Family meeting, Brellies: We’re going on a fourth and final adventure.”

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Plot: What to expect from the final season?
Much to everyone’s delight, showrunner Steve Blackman shared that Season 4 will explore one of the biggest mysteries from Gerard Way’s graphic novels, the source material for the series. “I don’t want to say what it is, but the fans will probably figure it out,” he said. Last season ended with a whole lot of change, “Shaken, the family confronts the deadly mysteries of the Hotel Oblivion and the growing suspicion that their mission is not what it seems.” Further adding, “There are new enemies who want to see them wiped out of existence,” he said. “But how do they manage without their powers? Is there even a way to get them back?”
In a conversation with Netflix Tudum, Blackman also spills all about what these twists will mean for Season 4, quoting, “It certainly is. But the siblings are always up for a challenge. This new timeline has been dictated by Hargreeves, who reprogrammed the Universe at the end of the Season 3 finale. But because of Allison’s actions, he didn’t get to finish what he started before Allison pressed the reset button. So, the siblings losing their powers isn’t going to be the only oddity in this timeline. There are new enemies who want to see them wiped out of existence, but how do they manage without their powers? Is there even a way to get them back? The stakes have never been greater.”
When asked about what the Season 3 post-credits scene means for Season 4? He replied, “Let’s be clear – that is Sparrow Ben. The question you should really be asking yourself is what the fuck is he doing on a Korean subway train reading a book about pottery? Odd, right? Of course, it is! This is the Umbrella Academy. As every good Umbrella fan knows, no moment in the show exists in isolation. Everything we see has meaning. And this moment is no exception. Ben has a reason to be there… but you’ll have to wait until Season 4 to understand why.”
The final season is also reported to include six episodes with an average runtime of 40 to 60 minutes. The network has confirmed that the first episode is titled “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want,” and the sixth episode is titled “End of the Beginning,” written by Steve Blackman and directed by Paco Cabezas. We would like to mention that the majority of the titles have not yet been made public and will be disclosed once the episodes are scheduled to premiere on the streaming service. Therefore, while you wait, we suggest you binge-watch all the prior seasons to relive the thrill and be transported back into a world where superheroes, time travel, and family dynamics collide!
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Cast: Who will return to reprise their roles?
Even though not much has been revealed, we speculate that the cast members who set to reprise their roles include Elliot Page as Viktor Hargreeves, Tom Hopper as Luther Hargreeves, David Castañeda as Diego Hargreeves, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison Hargreeves, Robert Sheehan as Klaus Hargreeves, Aidan Gallagher as Number Five, Justin H. Min as Ben Hargreeves, Ritu Arya as Lila Pitts, and Colm Feore as Reginald Hargreeves, among others recurring cast members.
Executive producers set to return alongside Blackman include Jesse McKeown, who will also serve as co-showrunner; Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Scott Stuber, and Beau Bauman; and co-executive producers Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá.
That’s not all, as Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross have also joined the cast of the fourth and final season. Real-life husband and wife Offerman and Mullally will play Drs. Gene and Jean Thibedeau, a married pair of community college professors from New Mexico who wear sensible footwear and suffer from the most extreme case of deja vu this timeline has ever seen. Cross will play Sy Grossman, an upstanding, shy business owner and family man desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter, who will stop at nothing to get her back.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Official Trailer: Has it been released?
Unfortunately, the network has not released any official trailers for the upcoming season, as the release date hasn’t even been confirmed yet. So, it is way too early to begin such promotions, which usually start a month or two prior to the official release. In the meantime, we recommend that viewers catch up with the third season, which is available exclusively on Netflix, in order to understand the events that have transpired and evolved around the next season.
For the third season, Rotten Tomatoes reports a 90% approval rating with an average rating of 7.6/10, based on 51 reviews. The website’s critics’ consensus reads, “The Umbrella Academy unfurls a bit beyond a manageable scope in this overstuffed season, but there remains all the gonzo creativity and resonant character relationships that fans enroll for.” Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 74 out of 100 based on 10 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews.”
In the third season, after putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday, the Umbrella Academy return home to the present, convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this godforsaken timeline once and for all. But after a brief moment of celebration, they realize things aren’t exactly (okay, not at all) how they left them. Enter the Sparrow Academy. Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns.
Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) — now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?
