With ‘Satburn’ gaining traction on the internet and on streaming platforms, a surprising revelation about the movie has surfaced. Speaking about the infamous bathtub scene in the movie, Jacob Elordi expressed his honest feelings about it.
Diving into spoilers, the scene involves Oliver Quick played by Barry Keoghan, a college student at Oxford, feeling like an outsider among his affluent peers, particularly Felix (Elordi). With Felix inviting him to his family’s estate, Saltburn, a head-turning moment comes into play. The controversial scene involves Oliver drinking bathwater after Felix has ejaculated into it.

‘I was just really excited’
“I was just really excited when I read that scene because you don’t really see things like that in mainstream movies a lot of the time,” expressed the 26-year-old actor in a December 2023 interview with Stream Wars. He continued, “It’s just great that [writer and director] Emerald [Fennell] was allowed to push those boundaries and expose people like that I think”

Jacob Elordi snuck into a theatre to watch ‘Satburn’
Elordi typically refrains from actively seeking out reactions to his work.“I haven’t really heard too many because I try to hide away from it,” he shared with Stream Wars, before adding that he did, however, discreetly enter a theatre to witness an audience watching Saltburn. “I went to a screening of the picture in Brisbane when it first played and it was unbelievable because everybody was engaged and gasping at the screen,” he recalled. I haven’t been in a movie like that in a really, really long time.”
The bathtub scene is currently making waves on the internet, so much so, that it has inspired a candle humorously named “Jacob Elordi’s Bath Water Candle.” Elordi himself has addressed the NSFW scene during the press run for “Saltburn.” In a lighthearted tone, he remarked to Variety in November 2023, “I was very proud. I was very proud to have Barry Keoghan guzzling it like that.”
What does Director Fennell think about Satburn?
While speaking to Polygon in December 2023, Director Fennell said that she perceives “Saltburn” as a “lick the rich, suck the rich, and then bite the rich, and then swallow them” type of film.
“It’s really about having sympathy with everyone, always. Certainly for me as a writer and director — and for the actors, too — it always has to be an exercise in empathy. None of these people thinks of themselves as a bad person. It was the same with ‘Promising Young Woman,’” she added. “It’s not interesting for me to make things that make moral judgments about people — all I’m interested in doing is understanding.”
“So for me, the first thing about the Catton family was that we understood why Oliver would be, against his better judgment, completely and utterly beguiled,” Fennell continued.
