James Cameron’s recent statement
As quoted by Variety, here is what James Cameron said, “The Avatar films themselves are kind of all-consuming. I’ve got some other things I’m developing as well that are exciting.” He further added, “I think eventually over time — I don’t know if that’s after three or after four — I’ll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I’m also interested in. Or maybe not. I don’t know.”
However, Cameron reportedly also added the following, “I actually hope I get to make it. But it depends on market forces. Three is in the can so it’s coming out regardless. I really hope that we get to make four and five because it’s one big story, ultimately.”
The sequel to Avatar has been under development for almost a decade and the makers have often teased us by unveiling details of some behind-the-scenes content including some character introductions and concept art. There were also various rumors and speculations around the title of the sequel. Disney earlier finally revealed the details during CinemaCon 2022 and fans couldn’t be more excited about the same.
CinemaCon proved to be a blessing in disguise for all the Avatar fans as the makers revealed interesting details about the upcoming movie. They even unveiled some footage from the movie at the event. Well, the attendees of CinemaCon got some special treatment as they were given 3D glasses to see a minute-long video with no speech at all.
All they could see was the crystal blue waters of the planet which seemed nothing less than Pandora’s parallel universe. According to a report published in Variety, the movie witnesses people interacting with various creatures that resemble whales and pelicans, and one could literally see a few of them flying through the screen, an experience in 3D that no one can easily forget in the coming days.
