Justin Bieber is keeping his sense of humor intact even when it comes to heartfelt messages from his mom.
The 31-year-old singer recently responded to a powerful and emotional Instagram prayer from his mother, Pattie Mallette, that she posted on September 22. In the post, Mallette, 50, wrote a long, faith-filled message over a series of photos of her son, declaring spiritual protection and healing over him.
“I declare freedom, strength, clarity, and healing over you Justin,” she began. “Every chain of fear, confusion, heaviness, and pain— be broken in Jesus’ name. Holy Spirit, surround him with TRUTH, LIGHT, and PROTECTION. HEAL EVERY WOUND in his heart, mind and body, seen and unseen, restore what’s been stolen, and cover him in WHOLENESS.”
She continued, “Fill him to OVERFLOWING with Your LOVE and COMFORT. Continue to raise him up as a voice for Your Kingdom, unshaken and on fire for You Lord. Silence every voice that doesn’t come from You, and let his life be a bold witness of Your power, love, and healing grace. Say amen if you agree.”
While fans speculated on what might have prompted the public prayer, Bieber’s response, which came weeks later, offered a lighthearted twist. “Only thing I need healing from is my rolled pinky toe from playing ping pong,” he joked.
Though Bieber kept his reply playful, the spiritual tone of Mallette’s post seems to reflect ongoing themes in her son’s life, including faith, growth, and navigating fame with purpose. Just two days before his mother shared her message, Bieber posted a reflection of his own on Instagram, offering insight into how his beliefs continue to guide him.
“Jesus teaches that our effort is simply a response to being gifted life and forgiveness,” Bieber wrote on Sept. 20, alongside screenshots discussing how faith can help people cope with ego and celebrity. “Jesus becomes the prize. And growth becomes something you desire because of the grace we have received,” he added.

Faith and personal transformation have become frequent subjects in Bieber’s music and public statements in recent years and that thread continues with his latest album, Swag II, which dropped on September 5.
