Kanye West gets suspended from Clubhouse because of his antisemitic remarks

Kanye West is often mired in controversies because of which he grabs the headlines all the time. Now, the latest we know is that the rapper, now known as Ye, has been suspended from Clubhouse owing to his antisemitic remarks during a private Q&A on the particular social networking platform on December 10, 2022. Here is what the spokesperson of Clubhouse said in a statement to Billboard, “We took action to shut down a conversation on Saturday because it violated our policies. We also suspended those who violated the policies. There’s absolutely no place for bullying, hate speech, or abuse on our platform as explicitly stated in our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.”

What exactly happened?

According to the latest reports, the rapper and Wack100 were hosting a private Q&A on the platform Clubhouse that was about 50 minutes long before it abruptly ended. It was after that Ye was suspended from the same platform after allegedly making a series of antisemitic comments, as per a report by The Wrap. During the conversation, the two hosts reportedly discussed the controversies surrounding the rapper in recent months.

Earlier, Ye’s honorary doctorate that he received from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has been rescinded by the same institution. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, which is an American entertainment news outlet, The Chicago Sun-Times SAIC officials released a statement that reads, “The School of the Art Institute of Chicago condemns and repudiates Kanye West’s (now known as Ye) anti-Black, anti-Semitic, racist, and dangerous statements, particularly those directed at Black and Jewish communities.” The officials further added, “Ye’s actions do not align with SAIC’s mission and values, and we’ve rescinded his honorary degree.” For the unversed, this honorary doctorate was awarded to the rapper in 2015.

Reports suggest that the decision was made in response to a change.org petition that was started by members of the renowned SAIC community to revoke Kanye West’s honorary degree because of his recent anti-Semitic remarks that caused a lot of controversies.
