According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, which is an American entertainment news outlet, The Chicago Sun-Times SAIC officials released a statement that reads, “The School of the Art Institute of Chicago condemns and repudiates Kanye West’s (now known as Ye) anti-Black, anti-Semitic, racist, and dangerous statements, particularly those directed at Black and Jewish communities.” The officials further added, “Ye’s actions do not align with SAIC’s mission and values, and we’ve rescinded his honorary degree.” This honorary doctorate was awarded to the rapper in 2015.
A school spokeswoman also informed the Sun-Times, “We informed the SAIC community this morning.”
Why the decision?
Reports suggest that the decision was made in response to a change.org petition that was started by members of the renowned SAIC community to revoke Kanye West’s honorary degree because of his recent anti-Semitic remarks that caused a lot of controversies.
According to reports, here is what the petition partially read, “This award bestows the legitimacy and luster of the School on a figure who has in recent months has made repeated public statements expressing and justifying anti-Semetism. Regardless of his contributions prior to receipt of this award, it is harmful to allow Ye, as he is presently known, to continue to use the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to help legitimize hatred and violence.”
Ye recently hit the headlines once again after he reportedly made cheating allegations against his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. The reality TV star and Skims founder was blamed by Ye for having an extramarital affair with professional basketball player, Chris Paul. However, the latest reports suggest that these were false allegations made by the rapper against the diva.
According to the latest source of Page Six, “Kim Kardashian was never caught cheating on the rapper with Chris Paul.” The source further debunked Ye’s claim in what appears to be his latest Twitter tirade. The same source further revealed the reason behind Ye blaming his ex-wife Kim for cheating on him and said that it was to redirect everyone’s attention from what appears to be his crazy antics.
