Katy Perry definitely believes in women supporting women as she compliments Ariana Grande for her amazing singing skills!

Katy Perry recently had a very emotional, last day at the American Idol’s set as she decided to bid farewell to the show after being on the judging panel for seven seasons.

In an interaction with EXTRA on the same night, Perry praised the winner of the latest season, Abi Carter, also adding that she felt the same way about Ariana Grande’s voice before her.

“I think she was authentic; I think she was humble, I think she was singing with an angelic frequency. The way that she sang from the heart and the cry and the crackle, it was just like, whoa. This is a whole ‘nother voice,” Perry said of Carter, also saying, “The voice is unlike anything I’ve heard in pop music.”

Perry further continued by saying, “The last time I said that I said that about Ariana Grande when she went on The Ellen (DeGeneres) Show. I was like, ‘Oh this girl is the best singer of our generation.’ So, I don’t say that lightly.”

During her conversation with the outlet, she also dropped a hint about her upcoming project after “Smile” (released in August 2020) by joking, “I’m pregnant with my next album.”

As the “Harleys in Hawaii” singer bids farewell to the show, her position will be refilled by another artist soon. Though the new judge hasn’t been revealed yet, Perry wants country singer Jelly Roll to replace her. “I gotta say Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show. I was convinced at anything he said,” she told E! News in April, talking about the artist’s earlier appearance at the show.

“He could run for president, he could be my pastor, I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything … To have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be amazing. I love you, Jelly!” she added.

Coming to Ariana Grande’s latest projects, she recently dropped her seventh studio album, titled “The Eternal Sunshine” in January, which spent nearly two weeks on the top of the Billboard 200 chart, also becoming Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2024, when it was released. Her last project before this album was her majorly loved single “yes, and?”
