Kendall Jenner is not afraid to speak her own mind when it comes to her relationship with father Caitlyn Jenner.
Appearing on the Thursday, October 30 episode of The Kardashians, Jenner, 29, was captured sitting alongside Caitlyn, 76, at a family gathering when they started talking about the Los Angeles conflagration. According to PEOPLE, Caitlyn, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, contended that her home in Malibu was safe and she had planned to sit outside the house with a hose instead of evacuating.
Per the news outlet, Kendall talked about the surprise arrival of her father, admitting in a rare confessional interview that, “I definitely wasn’t expecting my dad to be here, just knowing the relationship my mom has with my dad. Not that it is bad, it is just distant. I don’t know if my parents will ever be best friends again, but this is definitely a great first step.”
Talking about her relationship with Caitlyn, Kendall candidly spoke out, “I have to compartmentalize my relationship with my Dad in a way because I love her. She’s my dad. We have a good relationship. But sometimes I get frustrated with her with certain things because we just have completely different views on things.”
Nevertheless, the supermodel asserted the importance of having Caitlyn in her life.
“Other than that, I always want to include her. I know she doesn’t have a lot outside of her family, and I think that she gets lonely. You don’t ever want someone to be sad, especially your dad and someone you love and care about.”
Apart from Kendall, it seems that none of the other Jenner sisters have been so unequivocal about their relationship with Caitlyn. In a May 2024 episode of The Kardashians, Khloé Jenner briefly shared, “This was my dad for 24 years, and it hurts me too.”
Meanwhile, Kim, 45, appeared to be nonchalant about her dynamics with Caitlyn and how it evolved, according to US Weekly.
“I got so many text messages saying, ‘Doesn’t that hurt your feelings what your stepdad says about you?’ It honestly doesn’t. I had such a great stepdad who raised me, so none of those things that are said — even if twisted — are going to make me think differently of the life I had”, Kim shared.

An outspoken conservative, Caitlyn Jenner had reportedly run for the Governor of California, losing the recall election in 2021. Her ex-wife, Kris Jenner, however, had previously talked about Caitlyn’s political affiliations publicly.
Appearing on a 2016 episode of I Am Cait, Kris said, “You’re not a politician, but you think you’re a politician sometimes. Sometimes, when you talk to somebody about your views, not everybody’s going to always agree. And sometimes, you can get a little cranky [about that].”
As PEOPLE notes, Caitlyn’s appearance on the reality show marks a significant change in its history, considering that she had not appeared on the show for a very long time. Kris had reportedly invited her ex to a family dinner at their Hidden Hills home, ‘El Dorado Meadow’.
As the family stood in a circle holding hands before eating dinner as a part of their ritual, Kris remarked, “Your Dad and I bought this house many years ago, and I think one person isn’t here that should be here to say goodbye with us to this house.”
When Kris nostalgically noted that it “wouldn’t be the same” without Caitlyn there, Caitlyn walked in, surprising the entire family.
Despite the turbulent relationship that Kris shared with Caitlyn following their split and the latter’s transition, Kris admitted that it was arduous to decide to invite her ex. Nevertheless, she decided in the affirmative and thought that it was the best thing to do for the occasion.
In the confessional, Kris said, “It’s only right for Caitlyn to be here tonight, too, because she actually was part of all those amazing memories. It wasn’t just my house – it was our house.”
According to US Weekly, the Kardashians are putting their Hidden Hills home up for sale and have gathered to bid their final adieus.
