It seems Kim Kardashian is stepping in, once again, to armor her pre-teen from the criticism being thrown at her online.

According to The Daily Mail, the growing criticism against North West, the eldest of Kardashian’s four children with ex-husband Kanye West, surrounded her finger piercings that she debuted on her right hand back in August. The news outlet stated that initially, North had a dermal piercing, which consisted of two small silver balls just below her knuckle on her right middle finger. However, last week, the pre-teen seemed to have gotten another dermal piercing on her fingers, which raised concerns among the fans, who voiced out that she’s “too young” for body modification.

As per the screenshots taken by The Sun, West shared a photo of the piercing process on TikTok, which showcased a rod going through her fingers. Responding to North’s latest piercing, a TikTok user by the name @mazzy_williams shared a post voicing out their disappointment, and sharing that they were “heartbroken” over the decision, asking if others also felt the same.

Sharing an overtop footage of herself with her hand over her mouth, she said, “north west getting a finger piercing is breaking my heart, just me?” The video was captioned with, “‘what is going on #northwest #kardashians”.

Dermal piercings are considered to pose serious health risks, especially when they are placed on the hands, making them prone to bacteria. With significant movement, they can easily cause rejection or infection, according to Page Six.

As confirmed by Healthline, dermal piercings “carry a high risk of complications and this type of piercing requires meticulous aftercare.”

Surprisingly, this video received 651,000 views, wherein the SKIMS founder was also one of them.

Commenting under @mazzy_williams’ video under her and North West’s joint account, Kim wrote, “it’s okay”, along with an emoji of two hands that created a heart. The comment soon started to gain traction with people chiming in to support North as well as Kim.

While one of the fans wrote, “It’s such a non-issue”, another added, “She wanted the piercing, and Kim let her. pls stop, Kim’s just trying to let her kids express themselves.”

Despite hundreds getting inspired to defend the mother-daughter duo, there were a lot of critics who pinpointed Kim’s parenting and North’s age.

One of the comments read, “She’s literally 12 lol she’s a child and that’s a pretty permanent decision.”

Another user wrote, “it’s very weird and don’t let people gaslight in the comments, including Kim and North lol,” while a third remarked, “not north gentle parenting you.”

One user also commented, “Being famous doesn’t mean breaking norms that edge towards bad parenting is good. ..Not even in high school yet.”

This is not the first time that fans have voiced out their concerns over North West’s choices. And this is also not the first time that Kim has publicly defended her eldest daughter.

According to Page Six, in October, the Kardashian’s star defended her daughter’s fashion and beauty choices while appearing on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast. While referring to North’s controversial black corset and mini skirt, Kardashian said, “It’s really hard and it’s really interesting because all the kids are wearing the same things.”

She continued, “But then my daughter tries to wear it, and then I’m like, ‘OK, we’re never wearing that again.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.”

Days following this interview, North continued to make headlines with her rocking faux face tattoos.

Earlier in November, Kim revealed North was the one who clapped back at the hate, responding to it as “a non-issue.”
