Kim Kardashian shared one of the most awkward and hilarious dating stories of her life, and it involves none other than her mother, Kris Jenner, acting as an unexpected matchmaker.
During her Wednesday night appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Kardashian, 44, recounted how Jenner, 69, once set her up on a blind date under the false pretense of a professional opportunity.
“She told me it was a job interview, but she told him it was a date,” Kim revealed, prompting laughter from Fallon and the audience. According to the SKIMS founder, the encounter happened before Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired and involved a TV executive.
As Fallon, 51, cracked up and buried his head in his hands, Kardashian added, “I don’t think she thought I’d be so prepared to bring a résumé.”
Kim explained that she showed up to the meeting thinking it was a business opportunity, ready to pitch her goals and ambitions. “I go and I’m talking about what I want to do, and I had a résumé on me!” she said. But just a few minutes into the conversation, the reality star realized what was actually going on.
“I realized what was up like five minutes in, and I put the résumé back in my purse,” Kim said, adding with a laugh, “I was like, ‘I’m going to kill you,’” referring to Jenner, who was sitting in the studio audience.

When Fallon asked if there had been any chemistry, Kardashian quickly shut it down. “No,” she said. “I don’t think he ever knew until like years and years later.”
At that point, Fallon turned to Jenner for her side of the story. The famed momager attempted to justify the setup, saying, “He totally knew because he was also an Emmy Award-winning…” before Kim cut her off, “Mom, can you stop?”
Jenner didn’t name names, but added that the man once joked, “Would it help if I brought my Emmy with me?” To which Khloé Kardashian, also in the audience, responded with a dramatic facial expression and quipped, “That’s a red flag.”
Jenner quickly clarified, “He was kidding. But I thought, this is never going to work.”
Kim wasn’t impressed. “So you also wanted to set me up with someone that thought an Emmy was what was going to seal the deal? Hmm,” she replied.
Fallon then asked if Jenner was still in touch with the man in question, to which she replied, “I plead the fifth.”
As for whether she’d let her mom set her up again, Kim said she would still “trust” Jenner’s advice. Khloé, 41, jokingly ruled herself out as a matchmaker, saying, “Oh, I’m not a good picker.” Kim laughed in agreement, “Same, babe.”
Kim has been married three times and shares four children with ex-husband Kanye West. Despite her romantic ups and downs, she remains optimistic about love.
“I’ll always be a hopeless romantic,” Kim told Jay Shetty in 2023. “I definitely love sharing my life with someone… I’m not lonely.”
