Kim Kardashian has admitted to being “scared” to tell ex-husband Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, about hiring a male nanny for her four children. However, the ‘Monster’ rapper’s reaction was not what Kim had anticipated, leaving her both surprised and relieved.

In a new episode of The Kardashians, which dropped on Hulu on 19 October, Kim gave details about co-parenting with West. The statement comes only a few days after the 46-year-old rapper claimed that the reality TV star is keeping his kids from him in a series of text messages.

Why did Kim want a male nanny?

In the episode, the ‘SKIMS’ founder explained the reason behind her specifically looking for a male nanny for her kids. “I recently hired a manny [male nanny] because I really wanted a male around that was going to be picking them up and taking them to sports,” Kim said as she felt her home was fairly “female-dominated.”

She further added, “Sometimes, because I’m really busy, it would be amazing if I had a partner that would come in and tap me out and take over and handle it. … But it can’t handle like that.” The former couple share daughters North, 10, and Chicago, five, as well as sons Saint, seven, and Psalm, four.

What was Ye’s reaction?

Kim initially expressed her uncertainty about telling West about the new hire, fearing his reaction. “I was scared out of my mind to tell their dad that,” she confessed. However, the interaction between the nanny and Kanye went much more smoothly than Kim had anticipated. The rapper warmly welcomed the nanny and even engaged in a game of soccer together. Kanye also made sure to convey certain rules to the nanny that he wanted his children to learn.

“When he was dropping off the kids, Kanye introduced himself and played [soccer] with Saint and him. He was so nice to him,” Kim added. “He said: ‘Hey, if you are going to help raise my son…’ Because [the nanny] handed [Saint] the ball really easily and [Kanye] said: ‘Don’t do that. Make him go get it himself. These are some of the rules I would want.’”

‘I’m holding by a thread’

In December 2022, Kim candidly described the co-parenting process with West as “hard” during the rapper’s many controversies. “One day my kids will thank me for sitting here and not bashing their dad when I could,” she said on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast. “All the crazy s***.”

“I definitely protected [Ye] and I still will in the eyes of my kids for my kids. In my home, my kids don’t know anything that goes on in the outside world,” she said, adding: “I’m holding on by a thread.”
