King Charles III issues first statement after demise of his mother Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning British monarch passed away on September 8, 2022. Following the same, her immediate successor and son, Prince Charles reacted to her passing away in an official statement that was posted on the royal family’s Twitter handle. It was on Thursday that the entire royal family including Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Prince William, and others made their way to Balmoral castle where the Queen was kept under medical supervision.

The next king

It was after the official announcement about the Queen’s death that it was declared about Prince Charles taking on the reign as the next King. Moreover, his wife, Camilla, is all set to be the Queen consort. Apart from that, BBC also confirmed that the present King is officially going to be referred to as Charles III. It was just a few minutes after the announcement was made on the internet that the newly appointed King made his first-ever statement as His Majesty The King.

The official statement

Here is what King Charles III said about his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s demise in the statement, “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.” He further went on to add, “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”

The news about the demise

Earlier, the royal family’s Twitter handle confirmed the Queen’s demise by posting an official statement that read, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.” The same statement also confirmed Prince Charles and his wife as the King and the Queen Consort respectively.
